The Newest Faces

Dawes and Keith made their AHL debuts after signing amateur tryout contracts. Dawes, 19, the Rangers' fifth-round pick in 2003, led Canada to a silver medal in the world junior championships and had 47 goals and 23 assists in 56 games with Kootenay, where he helped McGill win a Memorial Cup in 2000. Keith, 24, had 12 goals and 14 assists at Anchorage. Valley, 27, signed a pro tryout contract after going 20-8-7 with Peoria of the ECHL and 2-0 with Worcester of the AHL. The trio was needed after Jason MacDonald sustained a separated shoulder Friday that will keep him out four to six weeks. Also, goalie Steve Valiquette was called up.
Nice to see the NYR making some signings to bolster the system. Maybe these guys won't stick around, but at least they're decent sounding players, and could be added to trades.

Btw, Cam Keith is a 6'8" 228lb LW!

Actually, the Alaska-Anchorage webstie has him listed at 6'3".

This was the recap of Friday's game against Worcester.

(Ari) Shocket, who is 0-10-1 as a pro and hasn't played competitively in six years, was signed to a tryout contract after the Rangers called up Steve Valiquette.
I guess it's safe to assume that Shocket was released. I also guess that Mike Valley is a stop-gap until Valiquette is returned or Osear is ready to play.
