Maybe the fact that he is nowhere good enough for 4 mil per year?

Then why would we trade a player who is good enough for 4 mil per year for him?

Very good point. Also shows why LA needs to add.

He's not that good...

People think he's living up to expectations of being close to Crosby...

I'm keeping him, but if Chia does deal him, these would be the types of players the Bruins would want back.
That's what scares me. Kessel is a top line talent at the age of 21. 36 goals in 70 games. That's pretty impressive, the other players who have done it are all in the elite sniper category or on their way there.

Simmonds is a damn fine player, little chance of ever becoming a top line talent however. Johnson... is well.... Johnson. Could become great, could become the next Bryan Allen.

What's really funny in all this is that in Kessel draft year, Johnson was shooting off about Kessel being a jerk, which helped lead to his stock falling. Other issues were that Kessel apparently had a bad attitude, crappy work ethic, and his family was far too involved in his career. 3 years later... intersting.

Nah, LA can keep Johnson. I'd sooner a player that doesn't shoot off to the media about teammates, doesn't allow his dad to call all the shots, and is actually good at you know... hockey.

Now if we were talking Eric Johnson or Alex P in St Louis...

PS. 100% agree on the draft pick. Less it's top 2, no way should Boston trade a great player never for a chance at a crapshoot.

I'm probably Phil's biggest backer in the Bruins forum and I KNOW that he is and never will be anywhere near the player Crosby is.

But he's still better than JJ.

Yes you're right, Johnson really is a great defenseman.

It's apparent, just look at how he's already got himself onto LA's top pairing and earns top ice... hmmm, wait a second here.

Ok, look at how he's a go to guy in LA on the powerplay... no wait... that's not right either.

K, hang on, look at how great he is on the PK... no... something still isn't adding up.

Hrmmm, maybe his ES production? Ahhh nope.

Maybe ... yea ... maybe he has a lot to prove before he's ever compared in value to a top line RW who finished top 10 in GPG this year, even though he played the latter half of the season with a torn labrum and a suffered a bout of mono mid season.

There's a reason this kid is in near every LA trade offer on this board.
