Van-LA

CKNW and Brochu are reporting a rumor that the Nucks and Kings are working on a deal that looks something like this:

To LA:
Sami Salo
Rights to Jannik Hansen

To VAN:
Jack Johnson

I personally would love this from a Vancouver pov but I doubt it would take this little to get JJ unless he has told them he wants out.

I understand JJ may not have the HUGE value us Kings fans would like, but that trade would really piss me off.

Who is this Jannik Hansen? Any good?

A) Johnson obviously has way more value than the two in the Canuck offer
B) Salo has a NTC which he may not want to waive.
C) Salo's a very good defenseman, but aging and brittle. He probably wouldn't be a good fit in LA and Hansen is nothing the Kings don't already have, a mid-level prospect with the upside of being nothing more than a very good third liner.
D) CKNW no longer has Canuck rights and really isn't a legitimate source on the Canucks

Personally...I wouldn't want to see Johnson more than twice a year if NOT in a Kings jersey...so I hope this doesn't happen...

The trade makes the Canucks worse, and LA would never do it anyway.

Stupid rumor.

Jannik Hansen is actually pretty good.. He'll be really good if given the icetime...
http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=78706

He managed 21 points in 55 games getting fourth and sometimes third line minutes.

If he's given a chance, he'll score lots.

I thought Gillis wanted guys who have good character?
JJ seems like a handful to me.

Not a trade either way.

Ironic considering how much we booed this kid at WJC. Won't happen as Salo has a NTC.

No way does LA do that. Great deal for the Canucks. What type of contract would Johnson require 2M? Canucks would be getting faster, younger, and gaining cap space. Salo is underrated though as when he is healthy, he is quite possibly Vancouver's best all-around d-man.

This could work had it been Bieksa instead of Salo coming to LA.

2M? If that was all it took, Dean would probably keep him around another couple of years.

You haven't been following Los Angeles' Kings current affairs much eh?

Jack Johnson's dad don't wanna go to work no mo'!

This trade sucks for both, but more for LA.

LA does not want/need Bieksa.

They do not want/need defensemen.

I think it's close to a dozen times we've heard Gillis state that he would never ask a player to waive his NTC, and that such players would only be moved if they asked management for a trade....

I see no reason to think that Salo wants out... and unless he does, this sounds more like a rumour were some Canuck fan picked up a couple names out of a hat because they wanted Johnson on the team.

Salo is injury-prone, and the easiest big contract to drop, but is a solid top 3 guy when he's playing, so he has value... Hansen didn't have a fulltime roster spot on the team last season so he's available, but he's young and has potential so he has value... trade offer for Johnson!

If I'm the Canucks and there's any interest in Johnson, I'd want a contract in place before making any deal for him.

It is an interesting deal--

I think the nucks would be all over the deal--but LA would turn it down

Salo has 2 years left at 3.5 and then is a UFA and I don't think LA would do that

Salo is the far superior defenseman right now so I don't see how he's wrong here considering the canucks aren't looking to rebuild. There is all this hype about JJ but little in the way of substance to back it up right now.

What's wrong about the comment? He's saying LA wouldn't do it and Vancouver gets worse. Salo is a better defenseman than JJ, right now. And Hansen should have an important role next year. It doesn't mean that Salo and Hansen is worth more in value; in fact the contrary was stated.
