Three Horse Race for the Habs

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/276018.html

It says that Quebecor has gotten the support of Quebec Inc. and It also says that it has come down to 3 groups between Quebecor, Molson Family and a group of American investors. Also, they say it could be settled by June 15th, so, who do you want to see own the Habs assuming Gillett sells?

The group of American investors.
Quebecor I've heard horrible things from Quebeckers themselves, that should say something.
And Molson owned the team and basically provided a heavy assist in the downfall of the Canadiens organization.

Gillett to keep, or like everyone else, the American investors. Nothing but negative things toward the Quebecois group.

The Americans will have the most neutral approach towards the Habs.

Quebecor is a joke and PKP already looked like a complete fool for not understanding why Gainey had to hire a coach ASAP.

Molson owned the team when it went through its horrible years, and failed to do much to fix the problem.

Gillett, bought this team relatively cheap, turned it into one of the most profitable franchise in the NHL. Kept his nose out of hockey business, was never influenced by the media on a single thing.

Outside investors would be the best option out of those three IMO, but the ultimate best would be for Gillett to remain owner.

Dumb question... By "Molson" you mean the family and not the company, correct?

If that's the case, Molson or the Americans please...

Correct.

What made Molson Breweries such a bad owner is that as a publicly traded company, they are accountable to their shareholders first and foremost (even before their customers). A hockey team would therefore be treated strictly as a revenue-generating business, with hockey coming a distant second. This is also why Québecor would be a terrible owner.

The Molson brothers, on the other hand, would buy and own the team as private individuals, as Gillett does now.

I vote for the Molson bros.

... à bas Québecor because they would damage the Habs. They might follow a different path than the Molson we remember from Ron Corey's suzerainty but it would still lead to a bad outcome.

I don't think Gillette will sell!

But does that matter?

Because.....................Jacques Martin appears to be the Hab's "missing link"!

Considering that the Habs have the NHL's best:
- Owner
- Team President
- GM
- Scouts
- Players

The only thing stopping the Habs from winning the Cup - is the right coach! RIGHT?

Since the Habs now have the best coach in the world, why would Gillette want to sell the team when they are poised to take it all?

GO HABS OGO!

I dont want someone named Molson to ever put their hands on this team ever again, Québecor would be a massive fail and would drive a lot of people to stop being Hab's fans, no joke it would a nightmare.

I always wanted french people to own the Habs, but right now the most interesting buyer is Roustan.

GO HABS OGO!
It's not because you write Go Habs Go at the end of each post that you're a fan you know?..

I haven't seen you write 1 positive thing about the Habs yet.

I would take the American Investors / Molson kids over Quebecor any day of the week.

Why can't this **** be over with and we can move on with the off season re-tweak/build?!

I heard you! I'm quite afraid of Quebecor, but at the same time I can not cheer for unknown (in terms of management) white knights. A good old wait and see situation. Hope for the best.

Well that, and the fact that they replaced a relatively recent Cup winning administration with Reggie Houle (a PR schmoozer with Molson at the time) and other club nepotism related appointments to coach the team. Going back a little further they put another "Yes" man in Irving Grundman in as GM instead of Scotty Bowman. If the Molson's take the reigns I hope they have learned from past mistakes.

American investors or the Molsons.

We need new blood to come in.

In a perfect world I would like to see the team stay with who owns them now, but thats out of our control, unless we all take a stab at collecting money lol, heck we seem to have many GM's that seem to know all our problems and how to solve them .
