no way from colorado. Hejduk has a great contract and we don't any more centers. I think colorado says no and stays with Hejduk.

The value is there, but we're already in cap hell. We simply can't take on such a contract.

Colorado would probably do it. I kind of feel bad for their fans right now.

if you replaced Hejduk with Smyth, is the deal more or less palatable for Colorado fans?

the Drury contract isn't so godawful considering that there are only 3 years left.

No thanks. Switch Drury with Gomez.

You know things are bad when Toronto fans are feeling bad for us.

Ya, I am used to feeling sorry for them

Anyways, this propasal is no good for Colorado. They need wingers, not centers. They already have Stastny, Wolski, Sakic (if he resigns), and Duchene if they draft him. Then they have their checking line center on the Cody's/Lappy line. How many centers do you need.

No thanks from the Rangers perspective. I'd rather have Sanguinetti. Hejduk isn't going to fix our problems.

God no. You can keep Drury's contract, thanks. Move Duke for even more of a cap hell? You must be joking.

Wolski is a winger if I'm not mistaken, and Duchene could play the wing at the NHL level with his great skating ability. Sakic only has a year or two left at best, so really the only sure-fire top 6 center in the organization is Stastny.

you fail to see Colorado getting one of the best defensive prospects in league. Shattenkirk-Sanguinetti would be an incredible pairing.

You're not mistaken, but he's also a centre.

That's the positive for us, the negative is we're already in cap hell and can't afford to take on that much salary. We do have some salary coming off the books next summer, but doing this means we'd have over $20M tied up between Stastny, Smyth, and Drury for a few seasons. Smyth for Drury would be more doable, though I'm not sure it does anything for either side.

That's a valid point, but it is still undesirable and unfeasible for Colorado.

Losing Hejduk, trading a very high 3rd, and being saddled with Drury's contract for another 3 years isn't necessarily compensated by gaining Sanguinetti.

We already have a glut of centers on our team. Adding Drury does nothing but screw our cap hit, too.

he played on the wing for a couple years, he's better at center as we all discovered this year

problems with this proposal

1. the avs are in cap hell, and can't afford drury
2. the avs don't need another center
3. Hejduk probably wouldn't do this

I counter with:

To Col: Drury, Sanguinetti, 1st
To NYR: Smyth, 1st

No. Look at the contracts. I'd like Drury back, but not at this point in time. Or at least, not without either Clark or Tucker going back the other way (in addition to a larger peace).
