It's kinda funny reading the Leafs board about this.

Who knew Heatley was the dirtiest player in the league?

So, you're basically admitting that you added nothing to the conversation?

you can interpret his words anyway you want...I've head Heatley himself say he was a Blues' fan...granted it was on between-period interviews on a Blues telecast where he was interviewed...but you can believe what you want to believe. You can stress the word "started", while I can stress the word "was":

"when I was really young I was a big Flames fan. Then later on, I started to like the St. Louis Blues".

See...two can play that game.

The point was that I wouldn't be too quick to strike STL off the list of 'players' in the trade-market simply because of his unwillingness to waive his NMC to go there. And last I checked, the Blues have one of the best collections of young talent from which to deal to make a move...

staal, goligoski, dupuis, rights to scuderi and/or gill.....staal and dupuis equal about 5.5mil, makes it easier to fit Heatley in

Heatley beats out OV in goals playing with Sid next year if that were ever to happen

Gagner, Gilbert, 10th overall pick. I think that Edmonton and Ottawa are good trade partners.

Yeah - because there will be a TON of teams with $7.5M of cap space, $10M of salary budget, and a TON of young, inexpensive blue-chip players to trade!!! And that Heatley is willing to waive his NMC to play for!

Also, who has a center like Spezza to get Heatley the puck? I think he's got a ton of value, but from some of the trades in this thread you would think that Heatley was the best player of all time. I can't think of a post-Lindros trade that has the sort of value that is included in most of these posts, and when you take into account Heatley's contract - that will have an impact.

I'd honestly replace Gagner with Cogliano and then you've got a deal, I'd take 2 prospects and the first from Edmonton any day, it's a fair trade.

i find it interesting how it's worded he wants to play for a western team... not he wants to play out west... is there a chance Heatley has simply asked Murray to try and trade him to 'X' team?

Dany Heatley
Alex Picard

To Ottawa:
Ryan Suter
Colin Wilson
11th overall

I wouldn't mind that trade AT ALL.

Ottawa isn't all that interested in getting a package of young players and picks. What we would be most interested is getting some sort of replacement or a great top line player. A 3 way trade seems like a more likely scenario:

OTT: Kovalchuk (extension condition of trade)
EDM: Heatley
ATL: Gilbert, Cogliano, 1st 09

Atlanta gets a solid package in return for the soon to be UFA Kovalchuk. Ottawa gets a sniper back, and Edmonton gets a star Alberta boy to build their offense around.

Teams and values could change, but if Heatley is looking to move to a select number of teams, I don't think a 3 way trade is out of the question. Otherwise, Ottawa would likely hold on to him until they could get a decent offer.

I answered your question as to why Philly would consider moving Gagne in a Heatley deal... you said no... thats fine... but other people misinterpreted what I was saying

WTF.

Maybe he's a cancer of some sort? I can't figure out for the life of me why he'd want out.
I think he's not the problem, he probably wants out because he realised management is incompetent, the team has been sucking for 2 years and they hardly did anything to get better.

SJ has a pretty good center...now if we could just get rid of his current left wing. Hey, wait!

First off I feel for Senator fans. I know how it feels.

Secondly, I believe the Oilers and LA are the best fits for what Ottawa needs.

I think a Cogliano, Gilbert and 1st would be a great deal for Ottawa and Edmonton. I don't know LA's financial situation but they've seemed to hover around the $43M mark lately so perhaps Heatley is too rich for their blood.

Fair enough. If we can't land him keeping Burns is a pretty nice consolation prize. The downside is I think Calgary is a front runner.
