That's why Calgary shouldn't be included as a front-runner for Heatley. We don't have the young players/pieces to get this deal done. Nevermind the fact that we have too many big-ticket contracts up front. Also, Sutter isn't going to deal Dion despite what the whole world seems to believe.

I think LA is a great fit (even more than Edmonton)... i just don't know if Heatley will move his NMC for the Kings.

I'd take Vinny over Heatley anyday.

And Heatley killed a teamate. Most players that have played as long as Gagne has have injury histories. He's still playing as good as he ever has. The Flyers need a third line center with some size that can win faceoffs. They need size there. Just because Gagne doesn't skate around looking for hits doesn't mean he's a pushover. I'm not sure Gagne will be looking for a raise either, but that's a ways away, and he's said he wants to stay in Philly.

Really?

More of the same thinking from LA fans.

So, who is going to get him the puck? Kopitar? Cool.

So, when every team matches their shutdown groups against Kopi...

...who is going to get Fro the puck on the second line? The Kings do not have a true #2 center, and barely have a true #1 center.

As the stanley cup playoffs have proven, once again...

no depth at center = no results.

Brown and the #5 or it's not worth it for Ottawa.
Based on the games at the end of the year played with no pressure on them? How many divisions did Toronto win the year after finishing the year strong?

The Senators are not close to being a playoff team at this point

A mess in goal, a bunch of number 3 and 4 defensemen and one line that scores (which now looks done)

22nd overall pick
Kevin Bieksa or Alexander Edler
Mason Raymond or Jannik Hansen
Cory Schneider or Michael Grabner (Elliot + Schneider = sweet 1-2 punch)

this X's 10000000.

Id rather dean take his chance trying to sign Hossa or Gaborik (both are long shots) and make a move for VLC.

Centers make the players around them better. They make the other LINES better by taking pressure off. Wings do not do that.

no deal for LA, let him go to CGY for Phaneuf.

Luongo
Demitra

for

Leclaire
Heatley

Salaries are almost a wash. Vancouver goes with Schneider/Leclaire so Cory can get 25-30 starts a year.

Being a Leaf fan, it's no wonder you have no idea what's going on in Ottawa.

This is probably why Vancouver is out of the sweepstakes.

I honestly think Souray would be a FANTASTIC fit in Ottawa.

Who does Ottawa have manning the points on the powerplay?
Kuba-Phillips?
Kuba-Picard?

Could you Imagine Kuba-Souray? That would make a LETHAL powerplay.

Not entirely sure what else Ottawa needs though, top 6 forward? Oilers have plenty.

You guys seriously want to trade Luongo now huh? Value wise it's great, but I highly doubt that Luongo gets traded. Have contract negotiations even started with Luongo? Heatley will most likely be traded before they begin and it's in Vancouver's best interest to find out the situation about Luongo before trading him.

I would say so. I would also say that Edmonton would try their hardest not to include him in any deal. Most teams value Cogliano at about the same. I think edmonton would rather include Cogliano and a pick instead of Gags.

You didn't say that the kings barely have a true #1 centre? You might want to change your hfboards password then because someone using your account sure did.

Don't lump us all in. I'd say 1-2 think that (and they're crazy).

eh, I don't really want to trade him at all, rather that's the starting point if we wanted Heatley. Someone threw it out there, and thats the deal I think would do it if it were to happen. I agree with you that its very unlikely Luongo is dealt.

I didn't say Kopitar + JJ is worth Malkin, boy wonder, so don't invoke my post to make a point.
