Past 10 Years - Redraft! - 29 Teams Available!

EDIT: Crap, forgot I couldn't edit my own title. Scroll down to see the remaining teams. Moderators; could one of you kindly change the "29 Teams Available" to "Team Selection In Progress"

EDIT:Seeing as most people feel like the past year shouldnt be used because there simply arent 60 prospects in 09 that could impact an NHL club this season. we will be doing 1999 - 2008 and the final 2 picks will be eligible for use on any player drafted 1998 or earlier that is still active in the NHL today. This rule only applies to the final four picks so yes you can still have Patrick Stefan.

How this is going to work is you pick a team and then using the highest two draft picks you have in each year make picks to assemble the best possible team example

1999:

Atlanta: Henrik Zetterberg
Vancouver: Henrik Sedin
Vancouver: Daniel Sedin
New York Rangers: Martin Havlat

through the end of it all you will have a 20 man roster hopefully a solid, balenced one. In the end I will host a poll in which HFers can choose the winning team. Some teams (Wild, Jackets) were yet to exist at the time of the 1999 draft they will be given additional picks in their expansion year.

Remember, the pittsburgh penguins have over 9000 top 5 picks in the past 10 years and in this draft will be guaranteed 2 of Crosby/Malkin/Ovechkin as such voters should take into account that a detroit team that could squeak into the playoffs may be considered better drafting than the pittsburgh penguins who could be a cup dynasty on paper if taking draft position into account.

if you want to participate post the team below that you want to use. It is your responsibility to pm the person after your pick, if you do not pick within 6 hours of being pmed I will choose the best player available according to pure statistics ignoring team need. Remember, you must make two picks per draft and someone WILL have Patrick Stefan on their team. dont make fun of them too much

I'll play, but this prolly belongs in the mock drafts section.

will take Florida.
:

Also, since not many players from the 07-09 drafts have yet to make much of an NHL impact, I would suggest going from 96-06.

In todays NHL prospects and young players are becoming increasingly more valuable.

I woundn't be surprised to see 5 draftees from this past draft to play full time in the nhl this year with a few more getting a few games here and there.

EDIT: Tavares, Hedman, OEL, Schenn could probably cut their respective teams lineups.

Duchene, Kadri, Kane, De Haan, Ashton will probably get a few games too.

Yea, duh, there's some. but not 60 for the use of this draft.

Compare that to pretty solid guys from 96 that are still playing at a high level.
Kaberle, Chara, Briere, Dumont, Philips, Sturm, Cullen, NHL Player Derek Morris, Kubina, Rozsival, Poti, Salo, Pahlsson, Sarich, Mitchell, Zubrus, Salei, Lydman.

To be honest, we should do to 1999 - 2009 and then a two round draft of the earlier draft years 1900-1998

we can do 1999 - 2007 then 2 rounds from anywhere as long as the player is still active, in the NHL.
