Ott - Stl

To Ottawa: Alex Pietrangelo
Jay Mckee
2010 1st round pick
2009 3rd round pick or 2nd (whatever makes it work)

To St. Louis: Dany Heatley
Alex Auld

St. Louis reasons: St. Louis finally aquires a high scoring winger who can put up huge numbers for them. St. Louis also aquires Auld to sure up their back-up spot. St. Louis also gets to keep their 1st rounder this year and continue to stock pile prospects. This helps the blues because with Heatley they can definitley compete next year, and will hopefully not have as much of a need for their 1st rounder next year. This also gives St. Louis more of an oppurtunity to let Tkachuck walk, because they wouldn't need him with the addition of Heatley.

Ottawa reasons: Ottawa aquires one of the best defensive prospects around, who could easily turn into the number 1 defensemen they have missed so much. The sens also drop Auld and save some money, so that they can stick with Leclaire and Elliot. They also aquire draft picks, with which they should take a page out of the blues book and hold onto. The sens also aquire Jay Mckee who while he may not be a flashy guy, could help with the defense and must also be included to keep the cap for the blues in check.

Ottawa would need a decent forward of some sorts coming back as opposed to McKee.

McKee would need to be involved to make the salaries work. Its only one year left, and you could definitely get something for him at the deadline, players like him always get a nice return at the deadline. We could add Alex Steen?

Although I would rather move Pietrangelo in a trade for Kessel, I suppose I would be alright with this.

Ottawa needs some sort of forward coming back, at least second line level. Otherwise our top six could look something like this:

Comrie-Spezza-Alfie
Foligno-Fisher-Neil

That sucks.

Thats fine, keep Heatley, Im not a big fan of one player taking up 7.5 million of our cap anyways.

As I also said, I am much, much more interested in Kessel than Heatley. Younger, cheaper, faster, could probably be had for less, more than capable of matching Heatley's goal totals.

The only reason I don't agree with the idea that Ottawa needs a forward, is because they are about to enter a rebuilding phase. They have to many overpaid forwards as is and more underachieving players. Sorry to say but you guys are just going to have to gut it out with what you can get IMO.
