enroth: so he can fight Leclaire, Elliott, and Auld for a spot?
roy: a good start to a heatley proposal
sabres 1st: another good piece for a heatley proposal
3rd: i was expect the other part of the heatley proposal and something in return for foligno. A 3rd is not that.

So we take the third, Foligno and gragani out of the deal.

Then we have:

To Buffalo:

Thorton

To San Jose:

Heatley

To Ottawa:

Roy
Enroth
1st in 2009

How about instead of Roy and Enroth and the draft picks, Ottawa gets Vanek and Paille.

Meh, Vanek is 7 million. We're shedding a huge load of salary here. We need a number one D-man.

I'll deal strictly with SJ though, Michalek/Clowe and Ehrhoff/Vlassic.

Money works out. Let's do it.

EDIT: I would take Michalek and Clowe if that works (instead of the D-man).

The whole point of getting Heatley would be to put him with Thornton, also DW has said Thornton is staying.

Buffalo can't afford to pay Thornton and Vanek.
This deal is flawed from the start.

Was that before or after Heatley was available. I guarantee for the right price Thorton would be traded.

They have an internal cap. If they were so willing to work with it, they would have found ways to hold onto Briere, Drury, and Campbell.

Why? Explain how that would work. Wouldn't the whole point of acquiring Heatley to put him with Thornton?

So...according to this trade
Center: Spezza, Roy, Fisher, Kelly, and possibily Winchester and Bass

Left Wing: Ruutu

Right Wing: Alfredsson, Donovan

Defence: Phillips, Kuba, Volchenkov, Smith, Picard, Lee, Schubert

Goalie: Leclaire, Auld, Elliot, Enroth

Do you not see big wholes on Wing and log jam at Center and Goal?

Terrible trade.

That was a completely different scenario.
The only negotiations that they ****ed up were the Drury ones because they wanted him to stay. They didn't want Briere due to Roy and Connolly being passable replacements and Campbell turned down two offers to take a massive overpayment in free agency.

Ottawa gets a point a game player, a first round draft pick, and a big cap savings.

San Jose trades a big assist guy for big goal guy.

Buffalo gets another 7 mil forward that doesn't play well in the clutch.

Actually, I don't like this deal at all. Forget about it.
