Trade Quick during the year to address a team need. Bernier and Ersberg split the time. We have enough goaltending prospects.
Bernier was and is supposed to be the Number 1. This is the year
I'm against trading any of the goalies at the moment, but if you think it's a good idea to trade Quick, why not trade Bernier instead? A lot of GMs get high on potential.
re mason, non-factor in the decision to draft jb, at the time he was considered a gdecent prospect but a bit of a gamble due to injuries. He wasn't considered by anyone to be I. The top3 by the time the draft came.
I'm fine with Quick, but to assume Bernier is just going to sit back, do nothing, and not improve, well...
Even if Bernier did his homework this summer, sending him back to Manchester for one more season, just to see how he responds, would be a helluva of a final exam.

I think that if he doesn't blow every goalie away in camp (and I don't see that happening), I think this is what happens. It would be good for him to go down to Manchester and be "the man" for an entire season.
My comment was simply based on his talent, he could come in and have the best camp.
We should all be thankful that we don't have to worry about Crawford or Murray giving the starter job to Labarbara. If there is one thing that is going to make this years training camp more pleasant than years in the past, that is it for me!
I think we get rid of Ersberg to show Quick and Bernier that they are the future of our team.. i like the idea of having Quick be the starter with Bernier as the backup.
However, i say Ersberg stays in the system until we know Bernier is capable of being our backup at this point...

Really?
I see Quick and Bernier both as starters. One them gets traded eventually, but Ersberg is a damn good backup and will likely never demand big money or anything, and he is very capable of good spot duty and more importantly, can handle starting several in row should Quick or Bernier go down for a stretch.
Quick needs to improve his positioning a little, e.g. be more consistent, stop allowing fluke goals and learn to play the puck better. However, all those things will come with age and he has great reflexes and a burning desire to win. He's starting 50-55 games with LA next season and Bernier will be gone.
