Isn't it tampering if Gainey talks to another team's property (NYI: Komisarek)?

Whoops. My bad... I guess I'm just jumping the gun.

This team already has a lot of wingers under contract. I don't see Kovalev or Koivu as been the "priorities" because they will both give one or two other years to this league while Tanguay as over 5 to give.

At this point, I don't even think Komisarek being that "priority".

I firmly believe Gainey is about to land a big contract via a trade, and that is why Gainey is waiting to sign any UFA. I needs to know what $ he can spend on UFAs. Therefore, maybe Tanguay is the no.1 UFA Gainey wants to bring back.

Personnaly, I would focus first on Tanguay, Komisarek and Lang. If there is enough money left to bring Kovalev back, then let's bring him back.

After listening to the interview:

Alex's agent: We weren't told specifically whether there was interest in bringing Alex back or not, all Gainey told me was that presently there's another priority that is more important, and afterwards we'll deal with the free-agents.

It has to be the sale.

No worries, I will sneak into Nassau and place a giant orange cone on the ice. I swear you won't notice a difference.

Worse case scenario is that none of our "big" UFA's re-sign and we can't lure and big UFA's to the team. Then we get some ******** announcement at the middle/end of July.."We simply couldn't do much because of the sale of the team. It was bad timing."

LOL that won't happen. Gainey isn't stupid, he's just waiting to see what will happen these next few days. If the team is sold and he loses his spot, then that will mean that the new GM will have a clean slate. If not, then Gainey can start signing free-agents.

nice, nothing like making excuses before the season even starts... that should be fun. I can imagine it now.

"Montreal Canadiens, Quebec's falling leafs"

just guess on headlines.

Like an agent would ever lie for his client. Like THAT ever happens.

It probably has to do with ownership, the last thing I would want if I'm a new owner is seeing my budget being blown on players I don't think fit my vision.

Last thing I would want is an owner with a "vision".

Agreed, it pretty much sums it up. When free agents are contacted, Tanguay will most likely be at the top of the list. The great thing is that he also confirmed that Tanguay has no problem playing for Jacques Martin, so he will seriously evaluate offers from us!

It depends on who you're looking at. I'm sure the Pens' fans don't mind Mario's vision at all.

EDIT: I'm starting to notice a trend of people vomiting at the thought of Quebecor becoming the owner because they'd be in it for the money, and at the same time, saying how they want owners to keep their hands off the team, to pay the bills and enjoy the show.

Can't have both at the same time lads.

The #1 priority is without any doubt Mike Komisarek..

There are alot of Alex Tanguay in this league, he is easily replacable..

Mario had to buy the Penguins or else he wasn't going to see any of his money.
His vision had very little to do with it. You're also talking about one of the best players of All Time, so if someone's to have a vision, let it be him.

PKP didn't even know who Jacques Martin was until he was hired and if we base ourselves on his comment in the news, he was too stupid to realize why Gainey couldn't wait and extra 2-3weeks to sign one.

So, please don't compare the Pens situation to ours or Mario Lemieux to PKP.

As for not having both at the same time...we had it with Gillett, so yes, it's possible.

Talk about underrating a player...

The guy has average 0.93 points a game over his last 6 seasons and you're telling me there's plenty of guys like him in the league?
