bringing their AHL affliate to Austin and now with this, the Dallas Stars organization is just doing such a good job of promoting their state as place to support hockey. From the grassroots and up, I think Texas has done the best job of dramatically pumping up the game in a state where it basically didnt exist. Especially with all those hardcore football/baseball fans down there...

While the people of Minnesota won't like to admit this, but it was Norman Green who hired Jim Lites who has done more for junior hockey in Texas than anyone else with Tom Hick's money. And while Hicks will be selling the Rangers, his ownership of the Stars will continue. The Rangers may earn more income, the Stars have led to nine Dr.Pepper Stars Centers in the North Texas area, with it seems more to come including with Cedar Park's support a very nice hockey arena and AHL franchise in the Austin area. Liverpool fans should take notice.....when Hicks is able to find the funding/loans for the new stadium so important for Liverpools future success, the stadium will be built....

As noted by NHL21, the Kansas City-St. Joe-Topeka area with the two new sheets of ice in Independence will now have eight sheets of ice.... Compare the Dallas area with Kansas City or even St. Louis.... There are now more sheets of ice in North Texas, not to mention ice in the Houston, Austin, and San Antonio's areas....

When Norman Green moved the Stars south to Texas, Jim Lites understood the lifeline for the Stars in Texas would be with the kids skating on ice.... And he couldn't have more correct....

Hockey should reward the Stars with an achievement trophy as the franchise who have done more for promoting hockey... Just about every CHL and AHL club in Texas have seen the light and wouldn't exist in football country without the Stars..... Did Norman Green have a vision, an untapped market in the state of Texas..... Why the NHL delivered franchises to Nashville and Atlanta I do not know, Houston would have been better.....

A kid from Flower Mound was drafted number 36 recently in the NHL draft, early second round. Unheard of before...... A first round pick is coming soon....That draft included kids from frozen areas of North America and Europe.....
