Not gonna happen.

Inter-division trade involving a superstar.

And as you said, apparently he wants to go out West.

Would Heatley play for MTL and Martin?

The quesiton should be..."Would Ottawa trade Heatley to Montreal?"

and the answer then becomes obvious...

There are always ways around that tho. We've seen 3 team deals before where a player from 1 team gets traded to a team out west and then gets traded back to a different team in the same division as the team that got rid of him. Montreal traded Jeff Hackett to San Jose and they turned around and traded him back to Boston....not that Jeff Hackett is as good as Heatley, but it could be a possibility.

It sure can't hurt Gainey to look into it. Maybe Heatley would love to play for Martin again. The chances are slim that he gets traded to the Habs, but never say never.

1- Heatley never played under Martin
2- Only NHL 09 GMs would trade 50 goal scorers within the division
3-

This thread is a good example of why sampollock thinks he can do better than Gainey but is, in reality, deluded. Heatley is not going to be traded to Montreal.

I'd love to have him (what team wouldn't) but won't happen. Last time I checked Bob Gainey wasn't GMing the NHL09 Canadiens

Right, because Gainey didn't just pick a new coach. He didn't trade for Tanguay, Lang and Schneider. No, he hasn't done anything. We have the same roster as 5 years ago!!

Why would Heatley come here? He'd be our #1, He'd be attacked by Media. It would cost a **** load.

Yeah, that way, Heatley could be reunited with his favorite coach AND Koivu & Kovalev (you know, when they played together for team Russia)!!!

I could see him going to Edmonton. He grew up in Alberta I believe, the Oilers need a scorer to play with Hemsky and they have the assets to give up for Dany.

I don't care how, but he is definitely THE player I would want in Montreal this summer, before Tanguay, Kovalev, Lecavalier and even J-Bo. He is everything we need up front and more.

Seems that if there is one guy we could have with Martin on board, it's Chris Neil. Let's lower our expectations....
