I wouldn't even trade a second rounder for just a single year of Rinne.

Rinne is UFA (2010-2011). Thought it was RFA

Absolutely and overwhelmingly NO from Nashville. Rinne is pretty close to untouchable...and somehow we end up falling six spots in the draft?

Rinne has only one year of contract. UFA( 2010-2011)

Pickard will be the future Goalie n1 of Predators ..

Berglund has two more years of contract. RFA(11/12).

It is an excellent center, with huge potential.

This proposal is good for both teams.

NASHVILLE says no? Holy God. That is amazing.

This would be met with such laughter from Blues land that there would be aftershocks of laughter for weeks afterward.

Basically, in realizing that in charging the Blues the price of an untouchable Patrik Berglund to move up a piddling 6 spots from 17 to 11, the Preds decide to make it more equitable by throwing in the ubiquitous 2d round pick and the final year of Rinne before UFA to a team that has a starting goaltender?

Dear god no. This is in the bottom 5% of trade proposals on the board, and that's saying something.

Not at all. Preds have no need for another center especially at the expense of their young #1 goaltender.

Geez Blues, can't you just be happy that we gave you Mason for free?

The Predators have waited for three years of AHL time and a separated shoulder for Rinne to become their starting goaltender, and the management and coaching staff have constantly sung (sang?) his praises. They will more than likely sign him to an extension and make him the starter for the next 3-4 years. Just because he is an UFA at the end of next season, does NOT mean he's automatically leaving.

Furthermore, Pickard will likely take two, three, or maybe even four years to develop into an NHL goaltender. Just because he is the future does not mean that he is the immediate future, and a lot can happen in that projected development time. Pickard could have a string of groin injuries and turn into Brian Finley.

Then why the hell would St. Louis trade him to a division rival? Berglund and Backes are the future of the Blues up the middle, neither one of them is likely to be going anywhere any time soon.

How many goalies did Nashville go through in since the lockout? Curious question.

Good. So do the Predators.

Case closed.

Rinne is the goalie of the future for the Predators...not Pickard.

You do realize Rinne is UFA in summer 2010, yes? A player with one year left before UFA has damn little value as a general rule. You also realize it's a free agency buyer's market for goalies? Next summer, Luongo, Nabokov, Hiller and Turco are all UFAs along with Rinne. Hell, and Mason too.

Berglund is a far more coveted asset and his rights are owned by the Blues for another 6 years. With his age, huge size, skillset and youth, he's untouchable to the point that if Berglund is being moved, a player named Crosby, Ovechkin, etc. is coming back in some kind of blockbuster. You guys might as well have swapped in EJ for Berglund; that's the level of absurdity we're dealing with.

If this were a real deal, Poile would say yes so fast he'd injure himself. You have got to be high if you think otherwise. He would need those "Oops! I Crapped My Pants!" adult pampers. The Blues would have to be getting Shea Weber back in a Berglund deal.

I suppose the value is something kind of fair, but... *why*? It's just senseless for both teams.

Yet another case of an HF user overvaluing his own team's players.

I would rather have Berglund on my team then Rinne and I think that St Louis loses in this deal and I am not a blues fan in any way.

Why exactly would the Blues even entertain the thought of moving a 20 year old 6'4" defensively responsible center that just put up 47pts in his rookie year straight out of the Allesvekan?

Good luck with trying to get Shea Weber for Berglund

#1 goalies don't grow on trees. Just because Chet Pickard is projected to be a starter 3-4 years down the line doesn't mean we trade away our current starter away, especially for a position we are already strong in.

Goaltending is way to sketchy in this league. If Rinne was some kind of playoff God of a goalie, and the Blues were needing that extra piece to win the cup, then sure.
