Martin Biron Appreciation Thread

Well with the Emery signing now official, that pretty much says Marty's time as a flyer is over. I know this past year he lost a lot of fans, but I think we all can agree he was a stand up guy and it was a pleasure rooting for him while he wore a flyers jersey.

Thank you for your time here Marty, and best of luck where ever you do sign!

I, as a Pittsburgh fan will miss him.

He was aggressive and fun to watch. Wonder where he'll go? Rangers for 40 million and 20 years?

My guess would be Colorado.

I really wanted him to be the guy between the pipes when the Flyers finally win the Cup.

Underappreciated for his work on the ice and truly one of the nicest guys in the game today.

(If you're not coming back) I'll miss you, Marty!

Marty Biron is an awesome person and sounds like a great teammate, but that doesn't justify giving him 5+million$ when we had the oppurtunity to sign someone for less than half that, Emery has accomplished more than Biron, not much but its still more (the fact the he is 4 years younger also helps)... Emery sounds like he's extremely motivated to succeed and show that he belongs. I have no problem whatsoever with the guy being handed the starter role, he can handle it.

good luck to the guy. he never complained. He did have his ups and downs but I will never forget how good he was in the playoffs last year for us.
Good luck Marty.

Class act of a player. I would love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with Marty. A very underrated goalie in my book. Here's to the next chapter in his life.

I'll always remember both Biron and Upshall as that spark of hope at the end of the '06-'07 season. Brought the fun back into watching games again after suffering through the first 3/4 of the season. Good luck Marty!

I love Marty Biron the man as much as everyone else, but I'm not sad to see the inconsistent goalie with the selfish "the market is what it is so give my client 5 million per long term" agent depart. I honestly would have thought Marty would have taken a little less to stay here, but money talks. Here's to hoping Emery becomes Hextall 2 and not Checkmanek 2.

I can't say it better than this. Good job Dig.

Sure it was easy to get frustrated with him from time to time, but all in all, I liked Marty a lot and it was my desire to have him resign with us. Unfortunately, things don't always work out. I'm sure he'll do fine elsewhere.

Was fun to watch you rip it up Biron, but since one of my best friends last name is Biron as well, this should make talking about the Flyers much easier.

Hopefully when you're in Colorado (speculation) you can give a good word about Danny boy!
