Toews will be remembered as the best. EJ will be the best.

Why is Foligno there? Anisimov has higher upside IMO. Well from the list it'll be in order EJ, Toews, Backstrom, Lucic.

Well said. For obvious reasons Toews will be a more noticed player.

I went with Backstrom. Close call between him and Toews...

More proven in the NHL. It's not like Anisimov would be getting any serious consideration.

I think there are three basic tiers of players from this draft.

Tier 1

Erik Johnson
Jonathon Toews
Nicklas Backstrom

Tier 2

Phil Kessel
Bryan Little
Claude Giroux
Patrik Berglund
Jordan Staal
Derick Brassard
Simeon Varlamov

Tier 3

Milan Lucic
Peter Mueller
Kyle Okposo
Michael Frolik

It's going to be a long, long time before we see the final product with EJ. He could be awesome. For now I voted for Backstrom, but it's really a wash with him and Toews, and there's certainly an argument that Toews has the lead.

This, and I'll add that Steve Mason deserves some consideration too. I think that most people forget that he was drafted in 2006 as well.

I like this list a lot, we stand to see these guys in a many all star games to come, only thing I would change is I would move Staal to the bottom of Tier 1, he's the only cup winner on the whole list

I still like Erik Johnson to become a #1 defenseman. If he can't stay healthy or doesn't fulfill his potential for some reason, the best player from this draft will probably be one of Toews, Kessel or Okposo I think (color me a homer if you want but Okposo showed elite two way potential down the stretch last season.)

As-of-today: Nicklas Backstrom, and it's pretty clear cut for me.

In 5 years it wouldn't surprise me if it's: Erik Johnson or Jonathon Toews or Jordan Staal or Bryan Little or Phil Kessel or Claude Giroux or Milan Lucic. All for different reasons, but as-of-today it's Backstrom in my eyes.
