Smyth can't miss this game...he wont

Oilers unofficially knock Los Angeles out for good
6-5 win in a shoot out

Nedved (2), Laraque, Dvorak, Cross

If Smyth bails out because of the flu I will be furious. 1 Game for the rest of the summer seems like a decent trade off. Suck it up it's the playoff stretch.

how long here before the Hawks land on Walsh for his Smyth "bias"? I'm not complaining, unlike others here I believe a guy can say whatever he wants as long as he can back it up with stats.

Though Walsh could be out on a limb on that one

Why because Smyth is a 3.5 million dollar player with a 60 point cap on his totals? With 1st line time, PP time, Pk time, and whatever he wants he should be able to produce more than 60 points. Or at the very least play reasonably consistent. My criticism is just, and if he pulls out because of the flu I have officially lost all respect for him. This is the season. The flu - give me a break. The entire Ottawa Senators had the flu in a game this year yet they were all in the game. Sure they had to run to the room to drop a duece every once in a while, but they played - and played pretty well. Smyth has to suck it up. If he is the leader he needs to prove it.

Another point for Bergie, give the kid a 6 game point streak with 7 big ones.

Where are all the people who were comparing him to rubber dog crap now?

Talk about boys vs. men in the first. Gotta kill this penalty to start the second and then get back on the gas pedal. Great period for every guy with particular impressive play from Isbister, Laraque, Oates, Bergy IMO. Keep it going.

..and yet Bergie still gets little-to-love love on thread on the NHL Board discussing top rookie defensemen.

Also, I bet there are still fans out there looking for reasons to scratch Pisani.

PLEASE DO NOT *YOU KNOW WHAT* THIS LEAD!

We'll keep Bergy as the best kept secret (even though I too am guilty of not giving him love earlier). Pisani - what can we say he is scoring big time goals. As for the lead... it is only going to get bigger. Put up a big score just to show Nash and St Loo they mean business (and to give the guys an easy night + to ease up on my heart).

yeah im happy and all with the start, 2-0 and leading in shots 18-5 is KICKASS...... but over the past month or so i've seen way too many oiler leads evaporate very quickly to get excited just yet..... and you know that in the LA locker room they are all saying the same thing ...... if its 2-0 after 40 ill feel much better

What's happening with Cross?

Is he ailing or are the Oilers giving him the horns for the Stars tying goal the other night?

BTW, Staios looks gassed again tonight. Man I wish they'd give him Sun night off or something. I don't know, maybe it's an injury or something.

Either way he's far from well

^^ That completely sums up my worries right there.

The Oilers really need a pure goal scorer. Too many grinding guys with stone hands. We could have 50 shots and still get only 2-3 goals. It'll be up to Conklin to keep the Kings off their.. throne...heh.....heh... (dead silence).
