And so a great sigh of relief could be heard overhead the City of Edmonton: yes indeed, the Oilers are still on a roll and will surely make the playoffs. A great evening!! Thank you Hockey Gods!

And all of a sudden, the Oilers are just three back of the Flames, too.

Too bad for LA, they're so beaten up and their season is dying. The only nice pass of the night in their favor was by Ferguson.

Terrific effort tonight. A complete 60 minutes of hard working. LA didn't look like they were in the same league as the Oil.

Getting into game shape for Playoffs.

Yorkie was 3 for 4 on faceoffs. Finger might be getting a little better! He had 4 shots on goal and was a plus one. Mike was a little cobra'd around the twine tonight.

Ferggy played not too bad except for the big gaff give-away return goal gift to Laperriere. We still need guys who is steady and tough to be ready to come off the PB if injury happens. Scott needs to get some playing time in. Hopefully, Semenov will gets some game conditioning too.

Nedved made his biggest contribution tonight. A huge (sweet) goal late after killing off two straight pp's. Nice. I have a feeling no one else on this team scores that goal. That was pure. Keep it up lads:

I BELIEVE!!!!

I agree 100%. York was excellent all night, making simple plays and coming close on several occassions. He adds a piece of the puzzle that is crucial - steady 2 way game with great offensive flair. Izzy was really effective tonight. Great move from the corner leading to a chance and very up-tempo play. His season has been so riddled with injury he hasn't had the opportunity to get the ball rolling. He looked real good. Pisani was the third of the guys who played fabulous (that aren't getting as much praise). Goal, steady play, and lots of energy. Big 2 pts.

Oilers played a great game. The Kings were outplayed, simple as that. I can't remember a time when the Kings didn't try 100%. This whole week has been disappointing. Good luck to the Oilers in their playoff push. I hope you guys make it over St. Louis. You guys deserve it more. Here's to all 6 Canadian teams making the playoffs.

For the guy who suggested Horc on the PP

one of the best ideas I've read here.

MacT seems very loathe to use a forward on the PP but we saw what could happen with Marchant there so maybe if he's gonna use someone it has to be someone who he really likes.

That would be Horcoff

As for York, his shot is still very weak. A healthy York has at least two goals tonight but he's not getting much on his shots and I can't say I expect him to, either. And it's disappointing as I like the guy but this is the second year in a row down the stretch where he's hurting and can't chip in like he does in say Novemeber and December.

As for the win, great 1st and 3rd for sure and for once the 3rd period wasn't a nailbitier.

But it was the Kings and I look at this one the same as the one on Sunday: these are games we should win...in regulation, and given the level of competiton and the fact we are playing at home, it's nothing more than holding serve.

Now just gotta hope the Hawks and BJ's do something for us between now and the end of the game in Chicago on Sunday night.

And then take a deep breath before the game in Stl on Tuesday

Thank you very much Luc for the kind words. I feel bad that our playoff run has pushed you guys down. I quite like the kings, and as an Oilers fan, if you guys didn't have your injuries you would scare the bezesers out of me. On paper with no injuries I'd put you top 5 in the league.

Hopefully Allison and Deadmarsh will be back for you next year and you'll clean up.

Oh and play kick the crap out of Dallas whenever you get a chance. Man I hate those guys.

You guys get the feeling that the Oilers are playing like they're immortal?

I think the boys are starting to believe in themselves as well. I'm telling ya, its contagious!!!

And now...looking at tommorow. We have these same dejected Kings playing against Calgary (maybe they can take their frustrations out on them...somehow).
We have St.Louis at home to Chicago (Thibault...I believe in you), and Nashville at home to Columbus (Hey, the Jackets just manhandled the Ducks tonite). Common sense dictates we find ourselves in 9th again tommorow evening. I was never one for common sense. I welcome the anomaly.

Oh and was anyone else really impressed with Brewer tonight?

He is looking better and better. I don't know if I saw him lose a battle on the boards tonight.

And he is taking shots again. I am excited to see him next year...

Somehow someway we are going to make it in there. Thibault will be a huge boost to the Hawks. That is where their season really dropped off is when he was injured. They will play better. Columbus has Nash. That kid is dangerous as hell. Denis is a solid goalie too. Lets hope that Marchant has enough Oiler left in him to do his old pals a favor. We could really use another break.

If you don't like Brew's play right now

you're not even attempting to try. He is a force out there now and the offense is just icing

I'd like to see the Blues out!

But I'd also like to see Columbus and Chicago win tomorrow.

Time for divine intervention!

GO OILERS!
