Important parts: Betts and Powe for fourth line center. Somehow, /cote hasn't been cut, and they might dump Carcillo before Cote. WTH is going on here?
Why is everyone so hell bent on putting JVR in the minors. He's shown that he has been one of the best forwards on the ice so far this preseason. Why send him down, just because people believe it will be better for his development. Rubbish. JVR will improve a great deal faster playing against NHL calibre players than he will against the AHL.
I just really can't see Carcillo waived/cut or used as the 13th forward. It is a waste of an asset. Carcillo has value, and belongs on an NHL roster. If we deem that he doesn't have a place on our team, he should be traded IMO.

No one's as dumb as us. I doubt we see him traded for dick, frankly.
The guy isn't an asset in any way. What he does on the ice (for us) hasn't been consistent in even one game, let alone long enough to really justify being here. At least people like Cote (and his hot wife, and the Carnival...point being the guy's got a relationship with the area).
Carcillo is disappointingly. I really have low expectations for him. The fact of the matter is we take too many penalties as is, and we don't need another goon. However, they likely seem him as a younger Asham type guy, who can stick around for awhile and learn to improve. One of those "better" 4th liners in the league, occasional 3rd line fill-in type guys who fights, is ok in the corners, and isn't a total liability offensively.

I would agree, but I have a feeling he's been tentatively shopping them. I think he wants to be sure we make it through camp without any significant injuries. Last year, we would have killed to have a guy like Jones around after the injuries our D sustained. It will definitely be interesting to see who does and doesn't make the squad if everyone is healthy.
I can remember fans from the Kings proposing trade offers inquiring about Carcillo on that forum this offseason. I know that doesnt mean other GMs are interested but the perception out there isn't entirely negative.

Remember, if you can't trade, you can just waive them. Jones going for maybe Syvret or Marshall to be a 7th d-man. Carcillo going to make way for Powe and Pyorala.

The thing about Cote is that I feel he is more consistent and has his head on straighter than Carcillo. Even if he may not get the points of Carcillo, I find Cote is the smarter and tougher player.

Man would it be nice to have Upshall instead of Carcillo on this team right now haha...and I was content with the trade even though we gave up way too much.

I do not see them letting Carcillo go. I think they are trying to get him to straighten up and will succeed in doing so (usually when Homer steps in, progress is made...they gave up on Downie too quick). I know I'm in the minority and will hear it for this post, but I just want to say that I think he stays and deservedly so. Cote doesnt deserve a spot, if you ask me. He can't play, and he is not a heavy if he cant win a single fight. Atleast Carcillo can turn into a decent role player if tamed.
