Russian / Flyers

Who was the russian that we were waiting for last year and he was thought to come to camp? Does he still have connections to the Flyers and do we have a chance to have him on the team? Helps if you can remember the player to look up the info to see where he is.

Definitely sounds like Bodrov to me, think he's still a possibility for coming over in general Holmgren has always sounded fairly keen to get him to a training camp, maybe it will actually happen this time around.

it's going to be tough getting bodrov to come here. i'm merely musing at this time, but we'd have to sweeten the pot to get him to leave russia, where he'll likely make more than he does in the states.

Yes that is him, Heard a lot of rumors on him for a while then never heard anything past that. Season started and he dissapeared.

there's no where for the talk to go lol, he played last year in Russia he couldn't get out of his contract, not sure what he'll do now but Homer still said he's going to try to get him in camp

In one of those Emery articles, Emery said that he thinks it is going to be a very long shot to get him over here.

Yeah, I was just about to post that. I believe he said he's a very good player, but not ready for the NHL yet.

TP: You played with Denis Bodrov in Russia. He’s one of the Flyers’ prospects they have had trouble signing. What did you think of him as a player?

RE: Yeah, I talked to Paul [Holmgren]. We call him Bob over there. He’s a smart defenseman, a big dude. He can definitely play the game. I think he is a way’s away from coming over here to play. But they can definitely turn him into a player.
