New Skates

I just started playing ice hockey a few months ago with a used pair of Hespeler hockey skates. My feet are wide and the skates fit great; however, the blade on my left boot does not feel centered. This has really affected my skating. I think it is because of the way the skate was worn in by the last person. (?)

Anyways, I think it is time to buy a new pair of skates and don't know what to look for? Can anyone provide any tips? I do not need a $400 pair of skates for adult rec league. Is buying skates purely a comfort and price decision? How do you know the skates are comfortable without skating on them?

Thanks
