I'm pooping my pantaloons a bit here.

Sheppard, Cuma and the 12th overall for Heatley?

I don't know that much about Sheppard. Would Ottawa be getting shafted here?

Nope. Worst case scenario we have a lot of cap space.

Yeah, that much I understand. But, how good is Sheppard?

He looks like he can be a pretty good 2nd line center, he was drafted 9th overall in 2006, plenty of potential, and Wild fans seem to be pretty high on him.

That's a downgrade from the Oilers offer (if that's true)

Cogliano > Shepperd
Gilbert > Cuma
10th pick > 12th pick

More must be coming Ottawa's way....

I actually think Burns for Heatley straight up is a good deal for both teams. Minny needs scoring, especially with Gaborik all but gone. You have to give up something good to get a perennial 45-50 goal scorer, and Burns would be a great fit on the Sens defence.

Potentially. No one really knows if this is the trade offer, I think we're going by the Citizen on this one.

It's probably 100% inaccurate.

However, there's more than just the Citizen reporting that Minny is in on this big time.

Ottawa would love that 12th overall.. I think one of the big parts of any trade that Murray is looking for is another 1st round pick.. What would Ottawa have to offer to get the 12th overall as well?

Heatley + ?

for

Burns + 12th Overall

Heatley + Picard?

Would the wild have any interest in Jim O'Brien?

Personally, I wouldn't do a deal with Minny without Burns being involved. That's just me though, we'll see how Murray and Fletcher feel when this is all said and done.

If Heatley got dealt to Minny, he would cry for sure. I just can't see him fitting in on a defensive minded team, though Minny obviously needs someone with some scoring touch.

No O'Brien unless Bouchard is coming as well.

They probably won't be that defensive anymore. New coach, new GM, and they want to change things there.

It's the wrong mentality to take since Murray isn't negotiating exclusively with Minnesota. Instead, Murray needs to and probably is comparing offers between teams in order to get the best package possible. If Minnesota's deal is the best one on the table even though Burns is not included, he should take it.

Yep...Fletcher has all but said, he will be trying to ice a more "exciting" brand of hockey in Minny under his watch....and a guy like Heatley fits that bill.

Heatley for Burns.....do it.

From a Wild perspective, I would love to see a player such as Heatley on the squad.

However, I'm not all that enthused about the posibilities of doing such a trade when the team seems on the verge of needing a major re-build. Trading away a lot of young pieces doesn't help that scenario all that much either. If Ottawa wants Bouchard +, though, I'll be glad to drive him up there myself!

I think 1 thing everyone is forgetting Fletcher and Murray have a long history correct me if I'm wrong but they worked together for 6 or 7 years in Fla thats the only reason I see my wild pulling out a trade with the sens for heater

They go back to Florida and Anaheim I believe. They're very close. But there's more to it than that. There has to be a compatibility.

Also, Murray might be Fletcher's friend, but he loves to target new and excited GMs, then completely fleece them.

This doesn't sound like a fleecing so far, but Murray probably knows that Fletcher will continue to get more and more desperate as LA, Colorado etc. get in on this, so I doubt this happens any time before the draft.
