World Championship talk
Anyone know the selection camp roster for the upcoming world championships? I heard that Mikhnov and Krikunov received invites.
Other than that, I read that Kovalchuk has agreed to play, but Kovalenko will not as he has been playing injured and will opt to have surgery instead.

What a terrible roster. Looks like the players still in the play-offs were not added though. But still....Shefer, Zabolotnev, Pronin, Zolotov, Rybin, Emeleev, Badyukov....WTF?
Suprised not to see the likes of Chupin, Razin or Zelepukin.

Max 7 players will be on the final roster. the players in RSL play-offs and the NHLer are nor added. Maybe Bashkatov will also play for Sbornaja, who knows.

Ovechkin is going?
Ah yes, he will be on the team for the exibition games. Hopefully Fedorov and Kovalchuk will be there for the actual tournament along with Ovechkin. Just think of Ovechkin-Fedorov-Kovalchuk for the #1 scoring line, eh?

Koltsov should make the team, especially since the Moose won't make the playoffs in the AHL. Tyutin could also as well, although he might play for Hartford in the AHL playoffs. I heard Sergei might play if his brother Fedor is on the team.

Svitov broke an ankle blocking a shot in the game against Buffalo on Monday, I'd say the chances of him playing the Worlds if nil (if they picked him to begin with).

i think there is no way players like Chistov, Svitov, Yakubov, Radulov, Vorobiev, Smirnov, Babchuk, Shvidki, Smirnov and the AHLer will be invited ... they are unexperienced or had bad seasons (e.g. Chistov ...)
also no way Zherdev will play for Tikhonov!!
Mironov, Kozlov, Fedorov will likely refuse to play
I hope Zjuzin, Vishnevskij and maybe Kasparaitis will not reject to play ...
we would have a great defense with:
Tverdovskij, Jushkevich
Bykov, Kalinin
Zjuzin, Vishnevskij
Guskov, Kasparaitis ....... wow

Tjutin was invited to the training camp, but problems because of his farm team in AHL
Khavanov will not play (injury)
Zjuzin and Vishnveskij are injured, but there is stil possibility they will play.

Is Sandis Ozolinsh considered Russian, as he was born in Latvia when it was USSR? If so, he'd be a good addition. But, I think he plays for Latvia, anyway. Does that change for the World Championships of Hockey, though?

chances are great, i would say 60-70 %, he played well in the EuroTour and in some exhibitions games AND Tikhonov loves this kid
Ovechkin scored two goals in the last exhibition game (3. april) against Finland.
Russia - Finland 3-2 OT
