Dream Center for Jagr

Within reason (meaning actual availability through free agency or perceived availability through trade), who should be centering Jagr next year?

IMO, I have no freakin' clue.

This kid, who might be drafted in the 8th or 9th round in 2005.

I think his first name is Sidney.

Seriously...

I would not be opposed to signing a veteran playmaking center to play with Jagr next season. Someone like Sergei Zholtok, perhaps.

Somehow I can't help but think Sather's going to manage to acquire Lang. Detroit's going to have some cash problems under the new CBA, and the Rangers will be pretty well set with Leetch and De Vries off the books.

Depending on the offer, it might not be that bad. In one move Sather can appease both Super-Star Czech's and considering Lang's contract, it shouldn't cost too much to get done. But it depends on what it would cost vis-a-vis youth . . .

Do you think Eric can handle the First Line duties anymore? I would like to see him at Second Line, and would be happy if he could return, cheaply, in that role. Not saying I need Forsberg for the first line, but I don't want to rely on Lindros...

I cant tell you who I'd want to see center Jagr, but I can tell you who I by all means dont want to see center him. And thats Holik. Even Bobby himself said that thats a stupid idea.

But to be honest, I wouldnt mind signing Lindros to a cheap one year deal. Give him incentive based bonuses as long as their based on point production and not just health. Despite his bad luck with injuries, I really think Lindros has earned the respect of his teammates and has become a solid leader in the locker room --somebody the kids can look up to and learn from. If you're looking for a stopgap, might as well just go with Lindros.

I think Eric has grown up a lot and he's certainly turned into a respected guy in the room. You can't read a Lindros article now-a-days without reading something good said by a teammate or about this deep desire he seems to have to win. You know he's done something right if he has Bobby Holik singing some praise.

He seems to get along with everybody and for the few games that they played together I really liked that Lindros-Jagr combo. They created some space for each other and I'll never forget Jagr's first goal: Eric strips the outlet winger of the puck at the hash-marks and barrels in toward the goal and lets a quick low snapper go. Jagr hustles in from the deep slot and barries the rebound. Both then met up for a huge hugging celebration in the corner and for that one moment I just thought that maybe things would be alright in Rangerland, maybe.

I'd love to see Eric back next year. Lets not forget Barny either
