Bob Mackenzie: Well the deal is now complete. Obviously there was some rif in the Ducks dressing room with Ryan and his primadonna attitude and ANA felt they needed more depth at the centre postion. ANA also gets a d-man which shows that either Neidermayer or Beauchemin may not be returning. They still have St.Louis to fill in the top line. And obviously Pittsburgh gets a big winger to play with Crosby. This was a hockey deal.
Ray Shero: We are happy to add Bobby Ryan to the mix and we pray he becomes Crosby's/Malkin's RW for many years to come . Not only this but we also free up about $5 million in cap space . Jordan Staal was an instrumental part of the Cup Winning team . But we felt he could do a bit better offensively somewhere else . Thank you Anaheim Ducks for Bobby Ryan !
Unknown reporter- How do you feel about being put on the trading block
Roberto LuongoPersonally I feel betrayed by the Vancouver organization when they put me on the trading block, I know i have done alot for this organization, however, after i heard this I know i will not be a Vancouver Canuck next season. Sorry I have nothing else to say
Unknown reporter Why do you think they have done such a thing?
Al Strachan There's a certain speculation that the Vancouver Canucks are looking to deal away some of their defensemen. This could mean that the likes of Kevin Bieksa, Willie Mitchell, Sami Salo and Alexander Edler are available. Many teams could use some of these guys.
Ottawa Senators GM: We have stopped our pursuit to trade Spezza. We welcome all offers, but we doubt we will receive one to our liking. Trading a star player is difficult, and to trade for a top 5 pick is a tough task. We have to remember it takes 3-4 years for a player to develop. Spezza is already an All-Star player and losing him will be costly for our team. We already lost Dany Heatley.
The Ottawa Senators are in a comfortable position at this time. We thank all the teams for making their offers to us. At this point, after acquiring JamesVan Riemsdyk, Cody Hodgson and Simon Gagne, we are most likely looking to stay put and not making trades for big players. We are however looking to trade our contract players.
TSN BREAKING NEWS: The New York Islanders have stated they know which player they will take at 1st overall. They have no intentions whatsoever to make a trade to move that pick.
New GM Palpatine The Islanders are excited to have this young man come to our organization. We believe he will give this team a boost and we are taking the right step to our hopeful future.
Chris Kelly and Jason Smith are available for 2nd round picks. Jason Smith was a captain, and can bring veteran presence to young teams. Chris Kelly is an extremely hard working player, however due to Ottawa's salary situation, we are asking for a low price for both of these players.
Rich Hammond: Rumors that have been swirling all spring that the Kings are looking to bring in an elite player, the Kings have been approached by a few teams regarding star players, but they're not going to make a trade just to make a trade, and they're holding their #5 pick in high regard. They'll probably wait until the draft before deciding whether or not to trade it, as they may prefer to trade next year's 1st rounder instead.
We have been offered a top 10 pick for Jason Spezza. However, it will take more than that to get rid one of our top two players on this team. We will deviate from our first goal which was to get a defensman at the draft. We are looking for a top 5 pick along with an established player. This type of deal will only get us interested, we do not know if we will pull the trigger on this type of deal. Nonetheless, Ottawa Senators do look to contact Boston Bruin's for one of their forwards in the near future.
Roberto Luongo has already stated that he will not be a Vancouver Canuck next season.
Vancouver still has yet to mention what they'd want in exchange. Possibly a centret to fill their rotation however that is just a speculation.
