want to move up the draft...Their draft list has been leaked...They are surely interested in getting a defensman at this year's draft and Campoli is on the trading block.

Bob McKenzie: Talks between Vancouver and Phoenix are not going well , and at this rate there will not be any deal reached in contrast to what was believed before .

Pierre McGuire: Bob, I'm really wondering what direction the Phoenix Coyotes are going this season? Are they going to continue to stock up on prospects? Or, are they going to acquire some assests to help them this season? Will they move their 6th overall pick? Their in a tough, struggling market and sooner or later their going to have to put a competeitive team on the ice that the fans can cheer for.
Bob McKenzie: I agree, Pierre. It's nice to look at your prospect pool and say, "wow we got a nice group of kids coming up." But what's really the point if it's not translating to on ice performance and results. Bottom line is the Phoenix Coyotes need to make the playoffs soon.

have been in talks with Phoenix Coyotes to have a grab at the 6th overall pick. It seems highly unlikely, but they are going to try nonetheless. Coyotes like their spot, and will be tough to move.

Vancouver has shown interest in Ottawa's defensemen Chris Campoli. And a deal may be in the works.

Pierre Mcguire More news out of Vancouver. Reports say they have already contacted the Sedins about contract talks. Maybe the two can stay put in Vancouver and settle for less. Who knows.

Bob McKenzie: I hear Ottawa has approached Tampa Bay regarding the 2nd overall pick. Tampa has told Ottawa that a package of 9th overall + Hodgson+ or 9th+JVR+ or 9th+Karlsson+ must be the focus of the deal.

Phoenix GM: We are happy to announce the acquisition of young blueliners in Alzer and Carlson , and a decent 2nd round pick #55 overall . Tikhonov is an upcoming top 6 winger but we felt that because of our GREAT strength in the forward core made him a trade asset in order to acquire elite defensive talent .

We felt that we needed quality defensemen , because with Mueller , Turris , Doan , Hanzal , Lombardi , Lisin we are pretty much set in terms of offense . But Alzner and Carlson provide defense along with Michalek , Ed Jovanovski and Keith Yandle . We expect Carlson to be playing in the AHL next season and Alzner to be playing in a top defensive role in the upcoming hockey season .

Pierre McGuire: WOW monster. Ottawa gets a shot at Tavares or Hedman and Tampa gets some top quality prospects and a monster in Bieksa. Monster deal.

GM of the Ottawa Senators: We have talked to the Islanders, and we both know who we want at the draft. Each team will get their players at this year's draft and we are excited for this organization. We traded prospects, but our policy is quality not quantity. This year according to Hockey's Future we got the 4th best prospect, 13th best prospect, 21st best prospect and now we possibly will have the 1st best prospect. This is an amazing day for our franchise.

We are done with big tradings, and now we will wait for draft day to make our picks. We will possibly trade Campoli and bolster of D in the UFA market.

"He's hard to stop, but not impossible"-Future Ottawa Senator

Pierre McGuire: The Coyotes and Caps round up a successful day on the trade table. Phoenix had some glaring holes in their D and now get some monster prospects especially in Alzner while Washington continues to front load.

Pierre Lebrun The Vancouver Canucks have approached the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Canucks have certain players in mind that they really like in Pittsburgh. Crosby/Malkin are not involve i hear.

Bob Mackenzie I think the Ottawa Senators were a little bit too interested in the 2nd overall pick. They gave up Foligno, Zubov, and Hansen; three quality prospects. Not to mention newly aquired Kevin Bieksa who is a solid defensemen. And on top of that 9th overall (another quality prospect) and Tyler Ellington. To move up 7 spots this package was huge however, Hedman or Tavares may be worth this package in the long run. Let's see what happens.

Darren Dregger: Well big news out of New York Islanders is that they are going to trade with the Ottawa Senators, and Islanders are looking at a chance to grab Evgeni Malkin which can be huge for the franchise. Islanders, if they trade with the Senators will trade 2nd overall pick along with a top forward.
