Which player would you have on your team. I got to go with Zetterberg. He plays a great defensive game and offensive game. Definitely one of the harder working players in this league and true playoff stud.

Zetterberg.

The more I think about it, the more I think he's the fifth best forward in the world.

You put Iggy in Zetterberg's place and Detroit would've just won the cup.

Zetterberg shutting down Crosby is a big reason the series went 7. I don't think Iginla could do that.

That was a pretty weak argument on his part.

Iginla carries the Flames on his back every year. No disrespect to Zetterberg though.

Considering the depth Vancouver has at C, Iginla would be my choice.

That would be a good statement to make if his team had advanced past the first round in any of the last 4 years, not that Iginla's not a good leader and a great player, but Zetterberg has been the most valuable player on a Stanley cup winning team and Stanley cup runner up for 2 years in a row.

Then Crosby is given the space and time to improve on the 31pts he put up in 24 games. Tit for tat, you don't know how well Iginla would fit in Detroit as well, there is that thing about chemistry.

Very very true. There's also a concept called "a system". Detroit's success, and the image a lot of their players have, comes largely from the fact that they a) have talented players, and b) they all buy into the system completely and execute it almost flawlessly. Who knows how well Iggy fits into Detroit's 3 zone system (and how much his production drops - if at all) or how well Zetts performs in all 3 zones if he's expected to "run-and-gun" a bit more while playing in a system with players who are less able to compensate for occasional defensive lapses?

Too many variables to be able to make ridiculous substitution-type "if A was on Team B, and B was on Team A" statements. I would imagine, also, that when a team receives a new superstar the system in place is sometimes adapted somewhat to promote the success/get the most advantage of this type of player. No telling how that affects the performance of those around him as well.

edit: which is, I guess, why successful teams don't just go out looking for the "BPA" on free agent markets. They almost certainly target top tier guys who they think would best be able to gel with their current, successful, system.
