Toronto - Los Angeles

To TOR:

LA's 5th overall

To LA:

TOR's 2010 1st Rd pick
Mikhael Grabovski
TOR's 2009 2nd Rd Pick Via CAR (58th overall)

Now I don't know if Lombardi is willing to shop the pick or not, this is only on the basis of if he's entertaining offers for his 1st rounder.

Thoughts?

Lombardi has said it will take a "blown away" type of offer, that is not it.

Not enough. Good deal would be 7th + Ponikarovsky + Buffalo 2nd for 5th overall. That's what it could realistically take to move into the 2nd cluster.

Holy ****. A Kings trade proposal where Jordan Staal isn't monstrously overrated?

LA laughs and then proceeds by hanging up the phone.

This might get it done....but considering Ponikarovsky will be a UFA in 1 year....even that might not be enough.

We're trying to trade #5 up, not down.

Lombardi's trying to move up?

I guess MSP is not the one that he covets then (speculated) as most experts have him picked outside the top 5.

EDIT: He drops no farther than just outside the top 5 I meant to say. ( 6 or 7 latest)

Who is he targeting then?

You do realize this is to move up 2 spots. Really MSP works fine for us at 7

No it's not. It's a 2010 1st rounder. I thought it was fair until I realized that it's not the 2009 first rounder. Now it's just bad.

Why would the Leafs do that?

Massive and unnecessary overpayment.

no it's not it's the 2009. It's not involving the op but a secondary proposal. Go back and see. He said the 09 first, car 2nd, Poni would not be enough to get the 5th.

How is it bad?

Considering that we're in the midst of a major overhaul/rebuild ourselves, our 1st rounder next year might, again, very well be a top 5 to 10 pick in yet again a very deep draft next year. That, plus a 20 to 25 goal scoring forward who can contribute right away for them and a 2nd rounder this year doesn't make this deal "bad" IMO.

If LA has plans to deal for Heatley and their pick is in play, then I completely understand. But if Lombardi has no interest in Heatley but is still open to moving it for immediate help and another possible lottery pick next year, then why is this deal considered "bad"?

lol @ the not enough posts.

in 2003 all it took was Samuellson for Pittsburgh to move up to number 1.

But Kings fans want more than 7, a pretty good center and a 2nd?

Leafs will be happy with whoever they get at 7

Leafs keep 7. It was a 1st next year.

key word there, LA wouldn't want to intentionally take a risk....even if it is toronto

This is a meaningless thread. The Kings will either deal the pick for a player worthwhile or draft at #5.

That's a horrible deal for Leafs... Every mock draft has MSP/Schenn/Cowen/Kulikov in different order. The talent level between them isn't all that much. Leafs should just stay where they are and they'll get a damn good player.

It wasn't personal. I was just stating this is the type of deal the Kings would stay away from. It's been stated in our media and through fans they have plenty of potential and/or 3rd line players up to this point.
