Although this in itself does not guarentee that Martin will be successful as Hab's coach, I certainly like the fact that he wants the players to do some thinking about the way they do things.
Also, sounds like he wants the younger players to develop the habit of being accountable for what they do - on and off the ice!
i can't wait to see who are going to be named assistant coach
How often do we see new head coaches come in and keep the assistant coaching staff on board? I don't really pay that much attention to things like this with other teams.
He wants the Habs players to have good habits, eating, training and sleeping. He thinks they should be an exemple for the kids who follow the team. He dislike when players cheat, he dont want them to throw the puck. He says he will not accept any cheating from his players, he also believe that every players should always seek imporvment no mather their age or experience.
About his assistants, he said he'll probably decide after July 1st. He said he wants one coach who played in the NHL because he can give different feedbacks on certain situations. Perry Pearn is in the rumors...he was in Ottawa and New York in the past few years.

This is great news because there were way too many players on the team that liked to party and go out every night and it obviously effected their work ethic at practice and in games and it was a constant distraction for the rest of the players who showed up to practice and worked their butts off every game.
We need to play as a team first. We can't have 5 or 6 guys partying every night and causing problems in the dressing room and the rest of the team trying to play good hockey and win games.
Hopefully Martin will instill good work ethics to the players and hopefully the players will respect that and co-operate. If that happens....we will have a great season and be back at the top of the Eastern Conference where we belong.
Carbo wasn't an awful coach....he seemed to have a decent system that worked in 07-08, but when you don't communicate with your players and treat them with respect, the players will turn on you and stop playing for you....thats what happened last year.
It doesn't matter tho....thats in the past....we have a REAL coach now who is going to whip the boys into shape and make them play good hockey.
