Tomas Holmstrom

There is some speculation that if Hossa is re-signed then Holmstrom might be a guy the Wings would consider moving. I'm guessing because of the cap, that picks and prospects are all the Wings would be able to take back.

What would it take to get him on the Oilers in particular?

If it's a salary dump then I don't think it would take TOO much, that said he's a valuable player on a powerplay.

He'll never get moved. Even though Hossa is obviously the better player, Holland takes care of players who are in the "in" group (along with guys like Draper, Maltby, and probably Cleary now).

I'm a bit of a Homer homer. (see what i did there?)

Anyways, Homer has slowed down a bit. Well, he was never too fast to begin with.
Statistically speaking this was a bad year for him, regular season and playoffs.

He was dealing with a groin injury for part of the season though.

He's still one of the best guys at tipping/deflecting shots and is a beast once he plants himself in front of the net.

Id take Holmstrom any day on the B's. Guys a beast. But I don't think for a second that Detroit would move him.

I agree I doubt they let Hurdler,Samuelsson go and move Holmstrom just to fit in Hossa for a low low price(dont think Hossa takes the money they can afford-3.9).but if they do sign Hossa, Holmstrom and possibly Draper has to go.

Holmstrom will never be traded. It is what it is. Hes as untouchable as Datsyuk, Zettterberg, Franzen, or Lidstrom, although for a different reason.

Any of the "Four Cup" guys will retire in Red.

No point in them sticking with Hossa when they can insert guys like Leino, Helm and Abdicator into the lineup and be a well-oiled machine. If anything it was pretty obvious Hossa wasn't buying into their playoff system even though he shone in the regular season.

I think he'd have value for team looking to make a PP more dangerous.

Shudder, imagine Holmstrom on the Capitals with Ovechkin, Semin, Backstrom and Green. Hehe, what's worse than facing 10 shots a game from Ovechkin? When you can't see half of them.

That said, doubtful Holland is going to move him. As said before he's one of the mainstays and will most likely retire a Wing.

Holmstrom will never be traded.

Ken Holland takes care of the old boys club (ala the group that's won every Cup with the Wings from 1997 and onwards). He'll retire a Red Wing before playing anywhere else.

He sucked in the playoffs. and is there any slower player still playing? Only thing he can still do well is park his arse front of the goalie.

I hate Holmstrom, that being said, he will not leave Detroit his whole career. Like people have said "in-crowd" Thats why I'm surprised McCarty got ****.

I hate this in-crowd system, but it is what it is.
