At the very worst, Bergy will give you 40-50 points with unbelievable defensive play and great leadership.
2007-2008: 7 points
2008-2009: 39 points
Don't get me wrong, Patrice is a pretty amazing player but I don't think any of the concern with him is over how much skill he has, but if he can stay healthy. I personally wouldn't want to take the risk on him, having 2 bad concusions in 2 consecutive years.

Very interesting...
I would find Bergeron to be high risk at a 4.5M cap hit just because of the concussion issues. If he's out on the ice he's a great player but with that cap hit its hard to take a risk on someone that may not be out on the ice all the time.
Lol at Edler for Kessel and Kobasew. Might be the worst offer I've seen in a while, and I overrate Edler and think hes a beast.
In my opinion I don't think it would be much of a stretch to say Edler is <= Kessel in trade value, mostly because people tend to underrate the trade value of defensemen for forwards. So theoretically if Boston decides they need to trade Kessel and his new salary for a young defenseman, they'd likely get back someone like Edler or Suter rather than a Weber or Green.

Please tell me you aren't using a season where he missed the last 3/4 of the year due to a life threatening hit as a example for point.
Now I'm not going to say he is low risk like the other guy said, though.
I think the Sturm to Vancouver rumour has legs, but I don't see contracts coming back. Boston is looking to move him for cap space and Vancouver needs some speed on the wings if they are losing the Sedin twins.
Think more along the lines of Sturm for a prospect and a 3rd, but I don't know many of the prospects besides Hodgson so a Vancouver fan could tell me about a potential 5-6 Defensman in their system and that trade works for both sides.

Actually the Canucks need more size/grit up front than speed (especially considering the Sedins are hardly "speed demons".

He's a little more than that. He's also one of the better middleweight fighters and plays with a mean streak. Thiink of him as a smaller version of Lucic on the blueline.

I don't see the Canucks having any interest in Sturm. He's not the type of player they need - as Gillis has already talked about wanting to add more size and grit in the top 6.
And especially if the Sedins are gone, you're going to see more of a rebuild than anything else... Sturm doesn't help there either. He's also signed for the next 2 seasons at $3.5mill/yr, and that cap hit sticks after the expected drop in the cap.
Personally, I don't trade anything for Sturm... I'd rather go into FA with that salary spot open and try and find players there that don't cost you anything to get (such as Knuble or Kotalik, who would both be better fits in Vancouver as you don't need to give up anything to get them).
If I'm Gillis, I wouldn't help any team with their salary dumps... especially not before the start of FA.

I don't see the problem with it. That's a risk with him... he's been banged up pretty bad, 2 seasons in a row. Even if he recovers to 100% you have to think he's going to be more suceptible to future concusions.
If we're talking about THE worst case scenario, why would we possibly ignore something that WAS the worst case scenario, 2 years ago?
