Balsillie Vs. Phoenix

I live in Phoenix and started thinking about the Balsillie/Phoenix fiasco.
The question is simple:
How many people would like to see the Coyotes in Canada?

I understand its a tad bit late but I would really like to see the outcome.

yeah lets stick an nhl team in an area that has 2 other teams in its surrounding area..

whats the closest team to phoenix? 10 hours away?

this is such a joke to me.. if Canada gets a new team, it better be in an area that has no team in its area... like winnipeg

No team within 10 hours and still can't sell out...Yeah lets keep the team there

It doesn't matter how close Toronto is, that area will support 2 teams easily. However I'll concede it might have an impact on Buffalo, thats yet to be seen.

Yeah those Coyotes must be the centre of attention in that area.

Who's dumb enough to want to keep them in Phoenix, they're dying.

Hockey may work in Phoenix it may not. The problem is that the Coyotes have been stuck with inept management since they arrived in the desert.

It's the same story with Atlanta and Florida as well. I think if Phoenix/Atlanta/Florida, and to a lesser extent, Nashville could have produced a winner or had some sort of success there would be fan support and the team would have had financial success. However, unless you are bred to love hockey like a lot of people up north, it doesn't make sense to invest in a new sport when the local team sucks.

No, we should leave the team in a dying market, just like we did for Quebec and Winnipeg.

So why can New York have 3 Teams? (4 if you count the Sabres)

There are More Hockey Fans in the Greater Toronto Area than there are in New York.

Hockey is the Most Popular sport in Ontario - By Far!
It's probably only the 4th Most Popular Sport in New York.

Make it 7.

LOL, the Sabres. They are a hell of a lot closer to Toronto than they are to New York. I can't believe someone from Toronto wouldn't know that.

Make it 7.

They've had 13 years to turn a profit in Phoenix, and have failed miserably. Now that the team's floundering and someone's offering to move the team up north where it'll actually make money, Bettman suddenly decides to play Captain Caring and stop at nothing to keep his baby right where it is.

Florida has made the playoffs 3 times is 16 seasons, and hasn't made it since 2000. Do you really think people in a non-traditional hockey market are going to support a poor product year after year.

Nashville has made the playoffs but never past the first round. Again not something that helps build a fan base.

Agreed. It's time for the Phoenix experiment to be ended, I don't care where it goes.

It's about supplying people, not evenly distributing teams around North America.

The golden horshoe region has a population of roughly 8.5mil. The entire province of Manitoba has roughly 1.2mil.

I am all for another team in Canada but I'd hate to be a fan of a relocating team. If they can make it work I would like the team to stay in Phoenix.

I voted for leaving them in Phoenix because the issue to me isn't Hamilton vs Phoenix at all.

An NHL team would be better off in Hamilton. The league would be better off with a Hamilton franchise instead of a Phoenix franchise. (hell, the league would be better off with 28 teams. But that's not going to happen).

There's a myriad of issues surrounding Phoenix relocating to Hamilton, a lot of them potentially disastrous to the league.

I'd support a 32-team league with Hamilton, Vegas and Phoenix/Kansas City before I support moving PHX to Hamilton.

I'm sure these same people consider Ottawa as close to the Leafs in Ontario, when really it's much closer to Montreal.

I voted to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix.
Personally, I'm hoping the MakeItFive.ca movement really starts to take shape. If you can't turn the most lucrative franchise into a winner, you're obviously doing something wrong.
