Lak - Tor

Alexei Ponikarovsky
2nd Round pick (58th overall)

Ted Purcell (or Matt Moulson?)
2nd Round pick (35th overall)

LA gets a veteran winger, perennial 20-goal scorer, who is decent on the PK and should fit into the top 6 in LA among Kopitar, Brown, Handzus, Williams and Frolov. And Toronto gets a big-body ("Burke type player") forward building block and an upgraded 2nd Rounder

I would definitely do the Moulson deal. I think the Kings are bent on giving Purcell another year to pan out and doubt they are looking to deal him at the moment. It is not a bad deal though either way...

Edit - As a Leaf fan I wouldn't do the Moulson deal, I might do Pony straight up for the pick though.

There's a big difference between Purcell and Moulson. Swapping one out for the other makes for a completely different deal. And really, a player like Ponikarovsky should easily be worth a second on his own - if a player like Moulson is in the deal you're basically trading Poni to upgrade a second round pick. That's a lousy return.

Matt Moulson won't be a member of the Los Angeles Kings on July 1st.

Exactly I would probably do any of the following three, but I would prefer the Boyle deal.
To LA:
Alexei Ponikarovsky
2nd Round pick (58th overall)

To Tor:
Ted Purcell/Brian Boyle
2nd Round pick (35th overall)

OR

To LA:
Alexei Ponikarovsky

To Tor:
2nd Round pick (35th overall)

EDIT - Didn't even notice that Moulson is a UFA, wouldn't even do it if he wasn't.

The Kings could use some help at LW. I'm sure that Sturm and Ponikarovsky are on the shopping list, as well as others. I'm pretty sure that they will only pick up one though.

I don't think Sturm will waive his NTC, but who knows I guess.

Sturm has a NMC. Does he waive it to go to LA?

There is a Lombardi connection there, so I think it's possible. If he won't waive it Boston is going to have to move someone else up front.

I'm sure the Kings would be interested in Bergeron or Kessel if the price was right, but I don't see them moving Kessel.

Sturm would be a good fit on the Kings 2nd or 3rd line.

he had real flashes of brilliance and there is no reason ripp that team appart to have a new begin........
Let the Team grow together and keep the players.......

He is exactly what i don't want to see on our 2nd line.......
Where is the sense to block that important roster spot by a 75 year old prone...... instead of giving the Purcels and Mollers the chance......
On top we give a way soemthign for a trade and give Boston a helping Hand......

Right now, Sturm is helping us more if he plays in Boston

Most of the fans seem to have written off Boyle at this point. There are still a few that think he is still a powerhouse to be. Its a little unknown however how much longer management is willing to give him.

I don't think Poni is worth 35th overall, thats almost a 1st rounder!
If the pick was around 50ish, then maybe

He outscored Frolov last year, and makes just a shade over 2 mil. Not that I necessarily disagree with you as far as what he'd return, but lets not overrate picks here.

i dont really like the idea of moving so far down in the second round. We would be going from one of the first few 2nd round picks to one of the last... thats a big deal ,even in the 2nd round

Wow. Do people realize how good Ponikarovsky is?? While averaging 15:47 TOI/G, He reached 61 points.

So basicly given 3rd line minutes, and produced 1st line numbers...... and at the age of 28.

to Anyone who even questions his value being lower than a high 2nd or Low first....

Um he was our 1st line winger for most of the year, either he was playing with stajan and antro or with grabo and kulemin. I think his value is somewhere in Antropov's range, though a little higher since poni still has a full year on his contract.

I like the original deal, though i'd want voinov and 35th for poni and 50th. a late 2nd and poni for two high 2nd round picks,(or recent 2nd round picks).

I never said he wasn't our first line winger.... I said he was given 3rd line minutes.... Big difference....

If he was given 19:00+ minutes a game, he may have been a 70 point player...
