EE says that Koules does not want Barrie to have any voice in personnel decisions.

Wasn't it Koules that first hired and then didn't want to fire Melrose? Hmm...

If Koules is the main owner/controller, I might become a Panthers fan.

Ohh great, like the team and the fans need more of this crap, I thought OK was the better of the two, but now I think LB should be the man, what the heck is wrong with ok?

Who owns the majority of the team???

So basically it come down to this:

Koules gets control = Vinny is traded

Barrie gets control = Vinny stays

What I want to know is how come nobody came out with this information about which owner wants to trade vinny and which one doesnt earlier? Do you think they just found out? I mean, its not like this hasnt been a huge mystery to the fan base for the longest time.

What I want is for some stability with this franchise, and I think that comes with Koules. He will have a lower payroll and we might see Lecavalier go, but I think he is less likely to interfere with who is on the team, which I think will result in better teams. The team needs more stability, a higher cap would be nice, but if the team isn't able to sustain it we don't come out on top. I think OK is better for the team even if he spends less.

I dont see how team stability and trading Vinny go hand in hand. IMO they represent the complete opposites of each other.

Well if the team isn't able to pay for Vinny than there is going to be a lot more turnover. He is making 10 mil next year, which means we have somewhere between 30 and 40 mil for the rest of the team, which may not be enough, resulting in more losing seasons.

I would love for Vinny to stay in Tampa, but if the owners can't afford for him to stay the rest of the team is going to suffer, and there is quite simply going to be a lot of turnover for a longer period of time. Now if they do trade Vinny they have to do it right, and get pieces that will be the core of the team coming back, or everything fails, but following more than just my heart means trading Vinny might be the way to go. I really don't want a situation like Phoenix has, and if avoiding that means letting go of Vinny and his 10 million dollars I am ok with it.

I think Barrie has the money to keep him here short term, but I don't trust him to continually make the right decisions for the team, and think he will continue the circus that the Lightning have been the last couple of years.

Me neither, so thats the ONLY reason I would let Vinny go, but IŽd really prefer he stay here.

I am not sold on that story, that berrie is the better option for lone ownership. You guy`s really think he`s better off financially than koules?

I don't see how Bettman can give control to one over the other. One of them is going to have to get some financing to buy the other out. Bettman can't tell a guy that's put up millions of dollars that he has to go sit in time out while the other clown gets to do what he wants with the investment.

I just prefer that the league hands the team to the group with the largest investment: Palace Sports and Entertainment. They may have been cheap, but at least they knew how to run a team. Of course, I could also hope that Esposito still has his financing in place and goes to Manhattan and makes an offer today.

OK Hockey started out as cowboys and now they're just clowns.

I have a feeling this is how it will end up and it would be a better situation.

They give clowns a bad name. More like children fighting over their toys.

Very bad timing. What free agents would want to play for this freak show? Wonder how fast Vinny was on the phone with his agent after hearing about this.

I thought I was in the minority, I liked Koules and thought Barrie was the POS. But, that was just opinion, not fact backed stuff. Either way, I think Barrie will come out as the owner, but I'd feel more comfortable if they weren't meeting with Buttman himself.

Anyways, I'm going to put on my try hard pants and go to the main board when this thing is finished.

laughs will be a plenty.

This. I don't see this meeting as Bettman giving the ultimatum decision, sounds more like some sort of mediation. I don't even care anymore, this team keeps dragging itself through the mud and there's nothing worth defending anymore.

Like the team lately, I try my best to stay out of the defending business. It is what it is. If I had billions on hand, I'd be happy to buy the team, hire the right people, and do things right.

Anyone have a spare billion or two I can have?

the more I hear about the ownership "situation" and I become more and more sad over the fact that the bolts built a good fanbase and anytime a person like me born in Canada suggests the southern test has failed---Attendance records for the last 6 years(wont count this last season) clearly states that TB has a strong fanbase and when a team does certain things--the fans will come even when the team does not win. The thng is, the NHL loes a season--while other teams had trouble birng fans back in cold cities--BOLTS fans came back and they came back in droves and the BOLTS had a solid base built.

The new owners are the keystone cops of owners, I have a problem with both owners and anytime people want to have an example of old money vs new monet--jsut have to look at those two and realize the different business concepts new money has that is different then old money.

One of these two have to go and the focuss has to be put back on the ice

Exactly, as long as they have a reason. Since the reason obviously hasnt been to see a winning team, it's been to see their favorite player[s] on the ice. Without Vinny, many fans will have a loosing team and no favorite player. Why come then?
