What would it take to wrench him from EDM? How available is he?

Lets put it this way, when people suggest Hemsky for Heatley we all freaked out at the thought of trading Hemsky for Heatley.

He's about as untouchable as they come. Would take massive overpayment (especially since it seems like he's happy in Edmonton). Although I'd be happy if Edmonton were to trade him to say... somewhere out east.

Neither would I, I was just using an example of how valuable Hemsky is as a player and a fan favourite.

Really..for a guy who has never scored more than 25 goals hes one of the most untouchable in the league? I doubt it. Good prospect + 1st would get the deal done.

Heatley > Hemsky. Whether or not that means the Oilers would trade Hemsky for Heatley, or whether the Senators would want Hemsky, are separate and totally unrelated issues.

In any case, I agree with most Oiler fans here - I think for better or worse he's the core of the team for the next few years.

That is a very short sighted way to look at things. I'd say that the reasons he is untouchable is because of his good contract, the lack of top end talent on the Oilers, and the fact that he likes living and playing for Edmonton. The amount of goals a player scores isn't the only thing that dictates their trade value.

Agreed. Though, I think if the Oil thought they could improve up front they would deal him.

Really, really, really high. To the point that any team that actually managed to pry him out of Edmonton would regret it. Could this change for a variety of reasons? Absolutely. However right now... good luck.

He's a legitimate first line RW - probably a top 10 RW - signed to a sweet-heart contract for 3 more seasons. He likes the city and likes the team.

Savard has never broken 30 goals, I wonder if he'll be bought out soon?

As others have said -- it's mainly his contract/desire to play that makes his worth to Edmonton. Although Heatley is definitely a better player, Hemsky at 4.1 million is worth more (IMO) than Heatley at 7.5 million. 3.4 million gets you a very nice player. Added to that - it's pretty rare to find good players willing to play in Edmonton...

Probably because it would defeat the purpose of trading for Heatley.

He more than makes up for that with the amount of points he scores. I dont think Hemsky averages around 90 points a year. Nor did I say he was untouchable.

Now that I have the opinion of the Random 'Nucks Fan on the Main Board, I guess I can finally get some sleep.

What is he worth? Difficult question.

What would it take to get the Oilers to deal him? A massive offer.

Exactly. Right now the Oilers are going hard for Heatley so they have someone to play with Hemsky. If we traded Hemsky we're be looking for someone to play with Heatley.

If he demaned a trade then yes for sure. We just wanna see what other fans would offer. None of us think he's an untradeable superstar or anything. Unfortunately I've responded to a young kid who confuses wit for a quick one liner. The thread thus shall deteriorate.
