Stupid decisions... By Tampa not to show more confidence in him and by Karri to not try to get on with another NHL team.

I like Ramo but he didn't deserve to have more confidence in him. He was never going to beat out Smith and when he was a starter he was awful.

Maybe so but I never saw nothing more than a backup goalie in him.

Sucks to see such talent leaving... this should be a wake up call for GMs who let their prospects rot in the minors instead of giving them a shot or trading them.

Please Bergfors just stay this offseason. I swear you'll make the team next year. Please.

He struggled a bit under Caps guidance this year so this could be good for him. Hes easily the most athletic of the TB goaltending bunch (Smith, Ramo, Helenius, Tokarski) but was never asked to control his rebounds and play more of a percentages game, and when he was asked to this year, he had some major problems.

I wish him the best. This could be a good thing - just as much talent, maybe a little less over there, more playing time, perhaps he runs into a great G coach over there.

i can think of a couple of teams around the league that would have given him a shot. Not a big deal for TB with riku waiting in the wings. Helenius is their true long-term goalie prospect anyways.

I wonder if he has an out clause if an NHL team wants him...or is he still TBay property?

What is Tampa's goalie depth right now, especially their #1/#2 as it is right now?

Thanks.

I'm assuming it's Smith/Helenius, could be wrong though.

This is disappointing to hear, Karri had promise in the NHL, maybe some time in Russia will help him though. He will probably be able to compete for a starting position as well, though I still think Mike Smith isn't the best goalie out there, he does have better promise than Karri.

Peace. Honestly, was never that amazing as everyone says... atleast not when I saw him.. Yes we have bad defense, but he should have stopped more and controlled those damn rebounds.

Smith as the starter, probably going to pull someone in on the cheap as backup though, I don't think they're too keen on pulling Helenius up unless he really wows in camp.

Again, could be, but I wouldn't count on it. It'd be kinda nice, because Tokarski would probably get bumped up then.

He was never asked to control rebounds as a youngster and always depended on his athleticism to make saves instead of proper positioning and angles and controlling rebounds. He pretty much got asked to do/learn everything that he never learned when he was young, so of course he looked awful.

I didnt expect this to happen but now that it happened im glad. Ramo obviously has potential, but he still needs to improve.

I've always like Riku better... Ramo, I thought would be a starter, but I think Helenius has franchise potential.

How would they show more confidence in him? He was expected to be the backup to Smith and with no one knowing how healthy Smith is going to be, that would have meant a significant amount of starts. I don't think they gave up on him, I imagine he got an offer for more money from Omsk.

Karri was in the NHL the last two seasons and was the starter in the 2nd half last season when Smith was injured, he was given his shot.
