Predict the 1st goalie (and when)to be drafted this year:

I'll still go with Olivier Roy at 41st, but I think this is wide open...

Make your pick!

Wouldn't be terribly surprising (to me) if the Kings took Roy with #35.

Bernier AND Quick, I doubt they take a goalie.

Doubt it. The Avs aren't the biggest fans of drafting European players and especially not with the 33rd overall pick when they can still get a player who was passed in the first round. I see the Avs most likely targeting Mike Lee with their 3rd round pick [if he lasts] or the best goalie left during their 3rd pick.

Same was said when the Habs took Carey Price when they had the great Theodore.

On the subject of Goalies, was Olivier Roy on TSN draft list? I went through it and I am either blind or didn't see his named mentioned, even in the HM list

My top 3 goalies to go...

54. New Jersey - Edward Pasquale
58. Toronto - Robin Lehner (could be Olivier Bellavance-Roy)
64. Colorado - Matthew Hackett

Surprised to see Pasquale as 1st off the board. The latter 3 you mentioned I could see. I really see Pasquale falling to 3rd or 4th round.

That's a bit different than the Kings situation. Theodore was going to turn 29 and on the verge of signing a 3 year extension. The Habs probably had an idea that they'd better have a prospect in place if they didn't want Theodore past his next contract.

Quick is 23. Bernier hasn't turned 21 yet. And they have Zatkoff and Jones who are young as well. Just would seem like the Kings would have different areas to address at #35, especially when most of the goalies seem to be ranked later in the 2nd round. This isn't quite like the Islanders drafting Luongo when they had a hot prospect in Eric Fichaud and a young #1 in Tommy Salo.

Anyways, my best guess is Hackett @49 to Colorado.

Yeah, I mean, you can draw a goalie and a number of a hat and have just as good a chance as I do and hitting this. I've learned that you get more picks right in a draft if you take a chance as opposed to playing safe (not to mention you look like genius if you're right )

Pasquale could go at 50, he could go at 100, neither would be a surprise, frankly.

Nashville will not draft a goalie, and they wouldn't even consider a goalie in the Q. Poile avoids that place like the plague.

I think Colorado takes a goalie at 34, though, especially if they're high on Lehner or Pasquale.

Anyone have any idea who the Leafs might take? Not sure who will be available where they'll be picking in the second but I hope they take a goalie there. I would love for it to be Roy.

I'd say either Colorado takes one with their 2nd rounder...#33 or the Isles take one with #37.

First goalie picked will be either Roy, Hackett, or Lee.

Philly needs a goalie prospect but won't use their 1st (20th overall) on one and they don't have a 2nd rounder. NJ could use one as well but again, I don't think they use their 1st rounder. maybe second round at #54 but very likely by the third round they'll take one.

Id be surprised if the Islanders havent picked a goalie by the end of the 2nd (assuming they hold on to all their picks).

I see them signing Jonas "The Monster" Gustavsson instead!
