Heatley Gives List of Teams He'd Accept Trade To

Quote:
The Sun claims seven of the teams on Heatley's wishlist are the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks.

Sorry if posted, but I didn't see it.

BTW, glad he is interested in coming to New York.

Let LA have him. Even though Torts vs Heatley would be very interesting.

Wow, how cute of him. Most of those teams are teams either A) on the rise or B) with a great supporting cast.. so he doesn't have to do much of anything himself.

Sounds like a great player, doesn't it. And don't go, BUT THE L.A KINGS ARE ON IT, because he's not going to the L.A kings.

I think this is the first time the full list has come out.

Would be nice for the Hawks to dump that BC contract to get Heater but i'm just dreaming here

Gonna cost you Sharp and Bolland as well. Then we'll take back the next 7 years of Campbell at 7.3 million. Wow, try saying that out loud, it sounds even worse.

Why not? That seems most reasonable.

I don't see NY, Detroit, Chicago, or Boston being an option

Unless they can make drastic moves to reduce cap space

EDIT: I'm assuming none of these teams will want to part with pieces that Ottawa would actually accept.

Good to see Heatley being unrealistic...
Detroit...no cap space
Chicago...no cap space...have you seen their RFAs for next summer
Boston Bruins....no cap space
Rangers....no cap space...another massive contract lol but at least he would be somewhat worth his
San Jose....not unless Ottawa wants Marleau

Vancouver...won't happen because the Nucks won't trade Hodgson.

Looks like Heatley might as well have said "trade me to LA"

Does that list come on a 4 inch wide roll? If he/his agents were serious about wanting to pick a destination they should have done everything possible to keep the request private.

Sources told Sun Media the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins.

Sources say Minnesota, Colorado, Edmonton and St. Louis are taking a serious look as well.

The Kings could make a deal with the $7.5 million in cap space by offering up defenceman Jack Johnson and forward Alexander Frolov.

Even then they have to add more salary, and in the future they are boned.

so does that mean that Heatley really wants to go to the Kings, seeing as how they're the only team right now in a position to trade for him?

Boston - has their own salary issues, and have Kessel they still need to lock up, and adding a $7.5mill/yr cap hit on that team just isn't all that realistic, not with Chara already making that much, Thomas inked to a $5mill/yr extension, and the team is already over $50mill, with a few players still to re-sign.

Chicago - already have problems trying to lock up all their key young players longterm. And no one is going to help them out by taking on Campbell's contract here.

Detroit - yea, like they have room to add a $7.5mill/yr Heatley...

Rangers - their cap situation has been discussed enough to know they don't have much flexibility at all.

San Jose - they are currently at $47mill, still have half a forward lines to sign, a dman replacement for Blake and a backup goalie... don't see them having the flexibility.

Vancouver - aren't likely to make a move until they know the Sedins situation... and given the things that Gillis has talked about in the past (from not wanting longterm big money contracts, to how he values character), I don't see them having much interest in Heatley either.

So that leaves the Kings... the only team on that list that has the flexibility, need, $$, and asset base, to make a deal happen.

teams aren't going to be lining up to take bad contracts from the other teams just to create space for them... especially before FA has even started!

I think he is going to Vancouver... But wondering since he demanded a trade and listed only 7 teams... does this bring his trade value down??

But we'd have to give up so some young assets to acquire Heatley. I highly doubt Gomez/Roszival would be in a deal for Heatley. I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to give up Cally, Dubi or Girardi to get Heatley. I'm sure if you ask any Sens fan on here they'd be looking for one of the three I mentioned above.

Murray has already stated to ottawa media that because of the way Heatley and his camp handled this, if the best offer comes from a team not on his list, Heatley will have to decide between taking that deal or staying in Ottawa.

Good to see that Heatley has enough honor to request a trade and then submit a list of just 7 teams, some of which don't have nearly enough cap space to take him on.

Does anyone think Detroit will make a serious play for him? Chicago? Does Vancouver have anything to trade, that they'd be willing to give up for him? They might be about to lose both Sedins, the last thing they need is to trade more guys off their team to accommodate a player and contract of this magnitude.

exactly.

if heatley wanted long term and a no trade clause, and now he wants out, i cant beleive he had the b@lls to actually submit a list of to whom he wants to be traded.

If i am OTT i tell him to F* himself and his list and persue the best offer for OTT!

Weird. I read that Heatley wouldn't dictate the teams he could be traded to.

http://www.silversevensens.com/2009/...te-deal-murray

I think a random team comes from nowhere and makes a surprisingly decent offer that Murray takes.
