I pretty much expected nothing but his return to Europe from Kukkonen this season. He was decent enough but just not quite NHL level, but KHL is just better than AHL.

Good luck, Lasse.

I wonder if Stevens is personally packing Lasse's belongings and driving him to the airport. Never had a problem with the guy. Wish him the best of luck. Now on to the next doghouse victim.......

None. I don't think anyone here ever figured him into the plan for next year.

Good luck to him.

I liked Lasse when we first got him, but it seemed like his career was being ruined by getting scratched so often. Glad to see him going to Russia to be an everyday player. Hope he does well.

not stevens fault, the guy isnt an nhl defensemen....i think the fact that every team passed on him 2-3 times on waivers (with a very reasonable contract) says it all....

Good for him. Not an NHL player, this is where he belongs.

He was a UFA... so, nothing lost/nothing gained.

That's because Stevens ruined him. When he first got here he was a solid defenseman, and an exceptional shot blocker...last year he was simply atrocious when he was playing for us (and I was a huge Kukkonen supporter before that happened). How'd that happen?

Kukkonen probably could have gotten a contract in the NHL, but I'm sure he's getting paid more in Russia than he could make here, which is the case for most bottom-pairing D, bottom 6 forwards, and backup goalies.

Jussi Jokinen got passed over just as often and then potted seven goals in the playoffs and was a big part of Carolina getting to the finals. Getting skipped on waivers doesn't mean much.

Good luck. Never had a problem with him. Felt kind of sorry for him. I'm sure Steven's will have a new pup in his doghouse this year.
