Call It: What NHL Team Will Be The "CENTER" Of The Draft

On Friday there will be something that happens that will be called the "story of the draft"...

We have many teams that could easly take this award, the Islanders if they skip either of the big two, the Leafs with Burke looking to make a splash. The rumors of the Habs chasing down VL, the LA Kings looking to add offence and willing to use the 5th as bait & of course Danny "Ask For A Trade" Heatley looking for a new home...

In your opinion, what team do you think will have the most "impactful" day!

I'm going to take the NY Islanders just because I think it's safe to say they never do the "right thing" and thus I'm sure it will make for an intresting day of off-season hockey.

If somebody makes a big trade the big name player that goes to one team becomes the center of the draft, so with that logic

Montreal

Isles for obvious reasons...what do they have 37 picks in this one?

I am going with the Blues here as one of the bigger stories with a huge trade on draft day that lands them Dany Heatley.

Tampa Bay will be the story of the draft. From the Hedman/Tavares intrigue, to the possible of trading out of the #2 spot, the possibly trade of Vinny, I think Malone could be on the block as well, and their ownership never fails to entertain these days.

Montreal. Gainey already said no UFAs would be signed before the draft so maybe he has something big in the works. Or hopes to.. With the hometown crowd present he probably feels a bit more pressure to pull something off. Especially after last yr's debacle.

No being a homer, but I think if Ottawa trades Heatley for a top 10 pick while keeping our 9th and get some other assets back, with 2 picks in the first and 2 picks in the 2nd, we'd be a big story.

Agreed with Tampa as well, they could make a splash and so could LA.

The Kings have the most potential.

The rest of the top 5 drafting teams are going to keep their picks and get great players. The Kings are coming out of the rebuild and have the option to trade the pick for an established player. Whether that player comes from someone likely going into a rebuild or a team with bigshots to spare, it will be interesting. Or they can keep the pick and get a player with a bright future.

The Kings also have youth to trade for picks( unlikely, but you never know ) or for established players.

'Ought to be very interesting.

Tampa trading down, trading Vinny. Toronto acquiring #2 and drafting Tavares.

1) Heatley being traded at the draft to a team
2) Tampa trading pick and moving down
3) Isles drafting Hedman

Brian Burke has made sure he and the Leafs will have all eyes on them at least until the first several picks are made.

Heatley vs. LeCavalier

Whomever gets traded will be the #1 story.

Montréal Canadiens for lack of anything productive and not drafting a Quebecois player.

It'll be Tampa and you'll probably see all sorts of "move them to Canada" garbage, and "come home Vinny", etc etc

That would mean a really boring draft.

Not when they boo Montréal's first round choice because he isn't French.

Tampa, especially if Snow takes Hedman

otherwise NYI, simply due to volume of picks
