Division I NCAA teams in the Philadelphia area?

I've always wondered this but never took the time to figure this out.

What schools do we have in the Philadelphia metro area that have Division I hockey teams in the NCAA?

The closest one I guess is Princeton, which isn't really the Philly area.

This isn't the answer to your question, but there are a lot of club hockey teams in the area. I played for one of the teams for a few years. check out www.dvchchockey.org if you're interested.

I'm gonna bump this thread in the hopes that someone can help me out here.

I find it kind of shocking that there could be no team closer than Princeton.

This area really isn't a mecca for hockey talent.

None of LaSalle, Drexel, Penn, St. Joe's, and Temple (the Big 5) have competitive D1 ice hockey teams.

LaSalle, St. Joes, and Temple all play in the DVCHC, which is ACHA Division 2 and Division 3 club level hockey (www.dvchchockey.org) www.achahockey.org

Penn plays in the MACHA (Division 2 ACHA) and Drexel is at the Division 1 ACHA (club hockey level).

The area is made up of club teams. Even Penn State does not have a D1 hockey team, they play in the ACHA Division 1 (and they have players who have been signed to ECHL contracts). So there is some competitive hockey in the area, just not at the NCAA D1 level. The only other NCAA hockey team in the area is Neumann College, and they are Division 3.

Hope that helps.
