I think Savard would be perfect for the Kings, and Lombardi would have to give this proposal a long look.

Maybe add Brian Boyle and Boston's 1st or something like that.

try to read threads from the early season in our forum........
Lombardi said he will never trade for an over 28 year old...

And i think that's the best thing we can do.
If we trade for Savard it means the Bruins could easily sign Kessel.
So, i stay away from that and watch the nice show in Ottawa, Boston, Philly etc...
If something really cheap is coming up.... i take advantage...
if not they can rott in cap hell

Heh, keep in mind if Savard goes somewhere he'll be signing an extension. He wouldn't waive his NTC otherwise.

So a signed better then PPG center isn't worth the 5th overall pick. Holy crap people love their prospects. Savvy makes LA good now, so if they had an interest in winning they'd take it and run.

Personally, if I'm Boston I ask for a guy like Hickey or Voinov to go along with that 5th overall.

It's not that we are one Savard away from winning the cup...
but he makes us better when he is in Boston.........
Lombardi learned a lot from the Wings........
Trade just for your advantage........ the rest of the day, you just hurt other Teams

Savard has had character issues in the past and DL is very careful of the kind of veterans he brings around this young core.

Savard is an established all star. Picking at 5 hopefully gets you an established all star. That is how I look at it, especially from a Boston POV. The B's aren't rebuilding so unless they LOVE Cowan and think he can make an immediate impact, I doubt they make this deal.

Boston passes. Were not rebuilding. Not sending on of the best centers in the league for an unknown.

He was fat, and whines to referees.

His voice is a soprano and isnt exactly a born leader.

What a terrible person. You dont want him on your team

Boston is happy to keep him...

Funny how most teams in "cap hell" are in the playoffs. Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, Detroit...

You need to look at the teams to make that determination. The top 3 in this draft class are incredibly strong, but realistically, the top 2 will yield the closest thing the draft class has to generational talent hype.

Tavares and Hedman are both needed by Tampa and the Isles respectively to generate interest. While LA already has their prospect stockpiles, they need to start winning to generate more interest I would think. Rebuilding is fun in fantasy hockey, but eventually revenues take a hit and drafting in the top 10 every year stops making sense.

I think LA is at the threshold now. If they could bring in someone of Savvy's ilk they get that much closer to being competitive. Making the playoffs would be a step in the right direction, and Savard does help them get there.

Savard used to remind me Cammalleri. A me first kind of player, doesn't seem like that's him anymore. Could be a good fit, but I don't see Boston dealing him.

Nooooo, you don't get it. The point of hockey is to get as many young guys as possible wait until they all expire at the same time and do it all again!!!!

No offense Kings fans, but don't you ever get tired of top ten picks over and over and over again?

Jesus, deal one for once for a veteran that can show these young guys how to play....

It's not a top three pick...it's #5.....You guys just always used to losing?

No!!!!!

I would rather have top 5 picks than play an extra week or two in the playoffs.
