Bergeron makes ALOT more sense. He fits in with our young core. Plus LA needs vets to show the kids how to WIN not play. What has Savard won?

A 31 yr old soon to be UFA who has never scored 30 goals is not what LA needs.

He'll be 32 next month. So when the Kings are ready to run for the cup in a couple of seasons he will be in decline. Meanwhile, the number 5 pick will be maturing into a star at less than a top price. Is this hard to understand? Savard is a very good player -- just doesn't fit the Kings' needs at this time. You don't give up a #5 unless it gives you that last piece to go over the top for the cup; or, the if draft is full of lemons.

You are right...but then again teams that are one piece away from the Cup do not draft 5th overall.

Obviously he's not a veteran but if Boston is looking to shed salary Bergeon fo the 5th makes ALOT more sense. Agree?

He's been in the NHL for 5 years (300+ games) and has an A in Boston... He has more games in the NHL most forwards on the Kings and his 18 playoff games are probably more than most of the team as well. Just because he's young doesn't mean he isn't a great leader (Brown as well)

LA CENTERS:

Kopitar
Savard
Stoll
Handzus
Moller

So Stoll, Handzus, Moller as 3rd and 4th line centers?

Like the glutton of first round picks we dealt for Gretzky and later for Palffy?

We tried it before, now we're trying a different method. Doesn't mean it will work its just a different approach.

LA has a had a bunch of top 10 picks in recent years, none of them are as good as Savard.

Kopitar(11th i think) may compete but I take Savard.

Probably not -- unless the pick was acquired in a trade.

I would much rather trade Bergeron than Savard for the 5th, because Savard is much more valulable to our team. If I'm LA I'd much rather have Savard than PB, but if LA wants Patrice instead then thats fine by me...

how do you think both the wings of the nineties and the current pens got to be so good , years of drafting in the top five-10, beleive us we hope to the good Lord this is our last june counting the days to the draft but to bail now for a quick fix isn't going to happen if that fix is 30 +, hell we been saying no to all sorts of great players lately, Vinny, Heater, and Briere to name a few.....hell you would have thoght we just won the cup or something the way we can justify not getting great players, hell saying no to savard turns out to be easy

Try 2. Hickey and Doughty. You might get Hickey for Savard. Doughty? You get laughed at.

LMAO. Talk about OVERRATION (if that is even a word). Hickey has YET to play a game in the NHL and you think he is better than Marc Savard. Idiotic.

Doughty is good and may be better than Savard in the future but to say he is better than Savard is also idiotic.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

For Savard if he was signed for another three years at the same cap hit, sure.

For Savard for two more seasons, meh, I'll lean towards no.

(For Bergeron, absolutely).
