HFBoards TOP 40 ranking: Goaltenders #13

Now that the season and playoffs are over, I thought we'd do an "HFBoards ranking" for each position.

So basically, who (of the following) is the best goalie in the NHL? ie. which goalie would you want on your team for next year only? (independent of their respective salary)

Vote away.

Ranking so far

1. Luongo
2. Brodeur
3. Lundqvist
4. Backstrom
5. Nabokov
6. Thomas
7. Ward
8. Fleury
9. Vokoun
10. Miller

11. Kiprusoff
12. S.Mason

Turco is better than Dipietro, but he should be next probably [Dipietro]

I can't believe we put Mason in already. How many times have we seen 1-hit wonders in net?

Went with DiPietro. Tough choice between him and Turco.

Giguere 7 votes and Hiller 1...

Guess who was the #1 goaltender in Anaheim this past season?

These polls are all about what have you done for me lately, especially since we're voting on who you'd want in goal for this upcoming season. This is why guys like Dipietro and Turco have fallen in ranks.

Ironically Giguere and Turco are leading after having miserable seasons. But yes, most people base their votes on recent performances (playoffs in particular).

But a year ago both Turco and Giguere would consensually be in the top 10

Giggy for sure, I'm almost certain he will bounce back in a big way next season.

Not this poll. Turco and Giguere both had godawful seasons are are leading, over Khabibulin, who was very good, albeit not great, in helping Chicago reach the conference finals.

I'd choose at least half these guys before I chose Dipietro.

IF people vote Price, then why Tukka Rask, Cory Schneider and Josh Harding are not on this poll yet? For all i know, Price is still potentially good for now... He was AHL material on lot of games last season. Halak clearly outplayed him
