6 teams interested in Josh Harding

Quote:
I only report what I know from sources, not whatís just floating around) to talking with Toronto, Edmonton, Colorado, Detroit, St. Louis and Philly about Josh Harding.

(I was told last night that the Blues are very interested in Harding, and few teams are as overstuffed with young assets as the Blues). So itíll be interesting to see if Fletcher gets something substantial done with so few tradeable pieces to dangle.

Could have predicted five of those teams before opening up this thread. I don't think Detroit is looking to rely on a young goalie. They've always liked a vet in net.

Blues don't make much sense--they have a slight back log young goalies(een though one has gone home)

I think the oilers will be one team that might take the step up and offer somethings that the wild need. As with the Roloson deal, the wild are not gun shy for dealing within the division.

Someone from the wild board suggested that it woud O'Sullivan and the number 10 pick--I thinnk that is a bit steep.

Curious if the wild would take Nilsson and or O'Sullivan for harding and something

I almost positive you can throw Dallas in the mix...unless they know Gustavsson will be signing with them....

I hope Colorado gets this guy. Wolski would have to be involved, you'd think?

I'm sure he could be had for a pick and not a good roster player.

Minny fans really think they're going to get a king's ransom for Harding, and I'm not seeing it. More than half of those teams listed would want him as a backup or tandem guy, and you don't pay much for that. Add to that the amount of quality UFA goalies and Minny is kinda screwed. And how many years does Harding have left of RFA?

IMO Edmonton and Colorado are the real contenders for Harding, and perhaps Toronto if they don't get Gustavsson. But all of those teams are waiting on Gustavsson/Roloson too, and they aren't due for decisions until after draft day. I wonder if he'll be dealt draft day or not?

I think you might see this thing drag on until UFA day where someone will offer sheet him for max 2nd rounder compensation money, ~2.7m. And I hope it's the Avs.

i think that would be overpayment. Harding has proven nothing except he's a good backup on a very defense oriented team. Svatos/Hensick + 2nd is the deal I want to see. Minny fans will hate it but they're dreaming about Harding's value a bit.

I'm pretty sure the Flyers have offered Lupul+ in the past, but right now I think they're trying hard for Bouwmeester so they've fallen a bit in the running for Harding.

Except meeting St. Patrick in Denver was significantly better than meeting Bush, so Colorado must be his destination.

Ya, I was more or less joking. The Wild won't be getting Wolski for Harding. That much should be clear to all. As for that deal, it's hard to say. Maybe the Wild would consider it if they were enamored with a certain player at that spot. Hard to say. They'd likely want another late round pick as well I'd think. Maybe like a 4th. Who knows.

As for the over-valuing equation to this. Everyone over-values their own players. Just as everyone under-values everyone else's. It happens, it's apart of the sporting world. Of coarse teams are going to set asking prices high because there's generally only one way a proposal is going to go from there.

Sure. Just saying that meeting his boyhood hero probably tips the scale.

Really, I'm just talking out of my ass, I have no idea where he will sign.

I know from the oilers perspective I have decided that a Cogliano for Harding trade looks good to me. A guy who could be a number center for a guy who could be a number 1 goalie

I really could see the Wings involved depending on his contract demands... he could play a decent amount before taking over for Osgood as the starter in a couple years

I can't say I pay much attention to the Wings since I despise them... but perhaps it they are really keen on keeping Hossa they could look into moving Rafalski for a package including Harding?

San Jose isn't on that list, and they were interested in Gustavsson. Yeah.

While I'd obviously prefer Wolski (or Cogliano, etc.), I think could live with that deal. Those that say backups have limited value are correct.

Let's get it done!

Curious what the Blues would be willing to offer...picks?

What happened to Jim Howard in the Wings organization? He was touted at the next goalie for the Wings and it seems like this rumor of them having interest in harding means they have given up on him.

Rafalski has a NMC and I don't think he'd voluntarily waive it.

All of the news from the top so far points to the Wings going into the next season with Jimmy Howard backing up.

Actually, the Blues makes perfect sense. Strickland confirms the Blues are in the market for another quality goaltender and the stable of goaltenders in the system is not all that strong. Not sure what the price would be, but Harding has good value.
