Heatley: Minnesota has best offer, waiting on other teams to ante up.
I think Murray is trying to get into a position where he has some bargaining power. He has a deal on the table and now he can take it to another team and try to get more from them.
You'd have to think its based around Bouchard, to get Ottawa a legit #2 center, and then adding probably their #1 pick, and a young player like Cuma or Sheppard. I don't think Gilles has much value to Ottawa. I'd think they're pushing for Cuma.
Bouchard is NO LEGITIMATE #2 CENTER. He's more like a winger.
not really... Pouliot has a ton of potential still and should excel in a better offensive system... Clutterbuck is absolute hell to play against... Belanger is still a good player... and then you get a 1st as well
Lee has a ton of potential.
Ruutu is absolute hell to play against.
Kelly is still a good player.
Our 1st is better than theirs.

Yes really. It's awful. Clutterbuck is a career 3rd/4th liner, Pouliot is 22 and hasn't shown a hell of a lot yet in either the NHL or AHL, and Belanger was most recently traded for Vitaly Vishnevski, right after he was traded for Vasicek, so that gives you an idea how little value he has.
Considering the Wild don't have much to offer outside of Burns, which I don't believe they would move, I think it is.
I agree that HF overvalues picks like nobody's business. But this is a pretty deep draft and if the Sens are not getting any sort of impact player back from the Wild, Fletcher will have to move the 12th. In most cases, the 12th pick turns out to be only a decent player anyways, not like he's giving up a bonafide star is, like Ottawa.
I'm guessing Bouchard, Sheppard, and their 1st for Heatley and one of our 2nds.
If that's what's the best offer right now. Not including the salary cap but just going off of talent.
Would Anisimov, Zherdev, and a 1st beat it?
Why????
Sheppard is a 21 year old 7.5B player = Anisimov is a 21 year old 7.5B player.
Bouchard is a 25 year old 50-60 point player = Zherdev is a 24 year old 50-60 point player
Ottawa gets pick #12 while trading a second round pick < Ottawa gets #19 pick but DOESN'T surrender a 2nd round pick.
Now the question is, is it better for Ottawa to forfeit the 7 pick difference while keeping a 2nd or is it more important to lose the 2nd for a specific player at 12?
Could they also be swapping goalies? Eliot for Harding would be an improvement imo. If Leclaire doesn't pan out, they have Harding who has some intriguing potential.
I don't see the Wild much, but the stats don't seem to indicate that Sheppard is really panning out. Could someone who has seen him regularly possibly comment on his value?
Minnesota has nothing to offer, they can't be the front runners....
Minnesota has a lot of cap space to offer.
They are likely one of the few teams that can offer young players, top picks, and NO bad contracts going the other way... that's a pretty good asset in itself, especially going into a FA cycle.
The other teams that have been rumoured - Chicago would need to move Campbell... Edmonton would need to move Visnovsky or Horcoff or Penner... Pittsburgh, Philly, Boston, etc, just don't have that type of cap space without dumping money back.
For Ottawa, they're better off adding a bunch of good young players on good contracts, and then spending their money on FA, instead of being stuck with a big contract coming back.
That's not what I've been hearing. Unless the teams that are being thrown around by TSN and Murray, himself, are incorrect, it would suggest that there is some interested suitors!
Doubtful. Minnesota is hardly flowing with young talent. Probably just the Sens spouting a rumor to draw better offers. Have fun playing in Minnesota Heatley. You will be forgotten in a month.

Depends on the young players.
I personally don't think Sheppard has shown enough to warrant Heatley, even if you include Cuma and 12th overall.
If you're talking about Burns, then yes, the Sens make that deal, even if they need to send a 1st in 2010 the otherway.
