Do not underestimate the Islanders. They have a good core of young players and a crazy owner. Anything can happen with them.

What's the opinion on Antropov? Could he be a suitable replacement for Koivu? I know in the past he's had his share and more of the injury bug but I think he'd be a good option and maybe he would be willing to sign here.

Your 09/10 Preferred Habs Line-Up

For this thread lets try and be moderately realistic....try to include signed players, UFAs, RFAs, Euro-leaugers (eg. Perezhogin) and trade bait players (Lecavalier, Heatley, etc.). I'll start it off with two.

1st:
D. Sedin - H Sedin - Pacioretty
Tanguay - Koivu - Kovalev
Higgins - Pleckanec - A Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Lapierre - S Kostitsyn

Markov - Beauchimen
Hamrlik - Gorges
Ohlund - Weber

Price
Halak

2nd:
Hossa - Lecavalier - Kovalev
Pacioretty - Koivu - A Kostitsyn
Latendresse - Lapierre - Perezhogin
Stewart - Chipchura - Kosto

Markov - Bouwmeister
Beauchimen - Gorges
Weber - Obyrne

Price
Halak

(assuming a Lecavalier for Higgins, Plecks, Hamrlik, D'Ago, S Kost + picks/prospects)

are these cap friendly. Cause Ohlund Tanguay the Sedins and Beauchemin are gonna command more than people might think. As well I don't think that package lands Vinny. Good looking lineups though.

Caps? I can't be bothered to think of contracts when I play in my fantasy lineup world.

If a trade does go down, there's no way in hell TB takes on Hamrlik's contract.

In my mind it wouldn't be unreasonable considering the duration/size of Lecavalier's contract the need for D in Tampa (granted its young D, but Hammer is good at mentoring young D), and since Hammer's contract is up in 2 years i believe.

But maybe the rights to Komisarek would be a better D bargaining chip.

I would like a lineup like this even though it's a little bit soft:

Sedin - Sedin - Kovalev
Kostitsyn - Koivu - Kostitsyn
Higgins - Plekanec - Perezhogin
Latendresse - Lapierre - Kostopoulos
Extra: Laraque

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - A RD that doesn't suck
Gorges - A RD that doesn't suck

Halak

Thats a pretty awesome line-up
(1st) verifiable 1st line, potentially 3 PPG players.
(2nd) Koivu and the Kosty bros, defo nice 2nd line.
(3rd) A pretty sweet 2-way shutdown line.
(4th) Another more physical shutdown/energy line.

We'd be lucky with 1 single important UFA signing...let alone 4+

Who do you want Gainey to do this UFA season? All UFA & RFA talk here ‎(Part 2)

There's a long list of RFAs this year, and I still haven't heard of players recieving qualifying offers, including Lats, Chips, Pleks, Higgins, and players from other teams like Kessel, and July 1st is just days away.

So anyone care to tell me if they've heard about qualifying offers from the Habs or any other teams?

I believe Boston has tenured a QO to Kessel. The habs usually do it soon, probably after the draft as well.

Why would they tender any offers to Plekanec and Higgins when they will be members of the Tampa Bay Lightning by tomorrow evening around 7:05 PM?

Because one way or another, qualifying offers are important. They become UFAs if you don't tend to that before July 1st.

PS.: I know you're being sarcastic, and for the record, I will once again state that I'm not sold on whether or not Vinny will come here, I still see it 50/50, even though you probably aimed that comment towards others.

As per RDS, the only player we made an offer to is Komisarek, someone that seems not to want to return here.

I don't know what to think, I guess we just wait and see what happens between the draft and free agency.
