update on Burke and leafs

Hey everyone

Literally just got out of a scrum with Brian Burke

Kaberle will not move tonight...his no trade clause doesn't ey waived until the draft starts

He says the offer for kaberle is a significant player and a pick

Says things are quiet when it comes to his talks with nyi and TB

Apparently Tampa is still asking for achenn and he says that achenn isn't moving at all

So ya kaberle will not move before the morning and likely...if it does happen ....not until the draft begins

Not sure why there aren't more posts in this thread, but I think the significant player + pick info is pretty ... significant.

If it's a significant player, it won't be a 1st round pick.....probably a 3rd or something.

He could be trying to start a bidding war.

why is this guy so open with the media? I can't recall any GM in any sport speaking so honestly with the media. usually we get things like "we're always surveying the market trying to make our club better," and stuff like that.

Toronto's first would HAVE to be included in a deal like that or Waddel is seriously messed! Is this just a gut feeling or did you hear something that is leading you to believe this?
Thanks for the info!

Its HF radio, not Leafs radio, not sure what Nielson81 would have to gain by it.

I'm not claiming he has something to gain, I just don't see Kovy and something significant going to the leafs.

I get the feeling it was someone like the Kings, I don't know why.

Burke said that the offer includes a significant player.

If it's the Thrashers doesn't it have to be Kovalchuk simply because he is really the only significant player they have? Isn't he?

Kovalchuk is scheduled to be a UFA after next season isn't he?? If I remember correctly he is.

What about Kovalchuk and ATL 2nd or 3rd

for

Kaberle and 7th overall??

Like I said...all speculation....could be interesting though...

i'd consider lehtonen and little significant, as well. little seems unlikely... how have contract negotiations been going with kari?
