John Buccigross from ESPN? The guy who used to do NHL Tonight with Melrose?

Definitely heard it on Team 1040. Pratt and Taylor were hosting an interview with Buccigross. Their interview will be on later tonight on their show on Sportsnet Pacific, too.

Essentially, Buccigross reported that he heard yesterday from his sources that Luongo has agreed to a long-term contract extension with the Canucks, and that it will be announced July 1st.

luongo is a player where you can confidently sign long term, he is going to be good until late 40s (EDIT: I MEANT LATE 30s, but LOL), the sedins, im not as confident, by their mid 30s they might be washed up, like nazzy.

Woah woah woah. Let's not get crazy. He'll be Luongo until about 35 and then he'll start to decline like Brodeur has until about 40, when he'll retire.

No goalies (that I'm aware of) play consistent elite hockey into their 40s. Ever.

Haha, my brother is a hater like you and he bought a shirt that had the Canucks logo in the front and on the back it had the number 1 on it that said LETONEGO.

This is a great signing, I'm extremely curious to see what sort of contract it will be, it makes a lot of sense though, I mean the guy is building a house in B.C. and he's expressed his desire to stay many times. It better not be anywhere close to 8M of a cap or I will **** myself.

P.S. Machida will beat Shogun

You all realise that Luongo and his agent are not allowed to discuss an extension with Gillis until after July 1st?

If they have been talking, then both are going to probably be disciplined for breaking the CBA.

I doubt that there is an extenstion, as neither of them are that foolish to do something like that.

Not likely! 2009 is the Year of the Shogun.
